Subject: Pakistani Special Forces Vs Indian Special Forces
Mercenary2k    10/11/2004 4:18:12 PM
TRAINING: India The personnel of each Para Cdo Bn are airborne-qualified and probably air-assault-qualified as well. Certain detachments of these Bns are also trained in high-altitude high-opening and low-opening (HAHO/HALO) operations. Members of the U.S. Army SF participated in joint HAHO training with the Indians in 1992. Other joint training between the U.S. and Indian SF consisted of underwater training in 1995 and anti-terrorism training in 1997. Para Cdo Bns are trained in desert warfare (10th Bn) and mountain warfare (9th Bn). It is likely that certain elements of India's SF, the 9th Bn in particular, are trained to operate at extremely high altitudes, such as the Siachen Glacier. Little is known about language training within the Indian SF, but it is likely that all SF personnel are capable of at least rudimentary English, one of India's official languages, and that some personnel are trained in Chinese and certain Tibetan and Pakistani dialects. Pakistan As with their Indian counterparts, personnel of Pakistan's SSG are airborne-qualified and probably air-assault-qualified. Elements of the SSG are known to be HALO-qualified, and it is likely that they are HAHO-qualified as well. Personnel of the SSG receive training at the following schools: airborne (Peshawar), mountain warfare (Abbottad), combat diver (Karachi), and desert warfare. The SSG trains and exercises with other SF from Great Britain, the United States, Turkey, and Jordan. As for languages, English is widely used in Pakistan, although it is not an official language. It is likely that the SSG possesses linguists fluent in certain western Indian dialects. MISSIONS: India The Para Cdo Bns are capable of carrying out the following missions: counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, counter-insurgency, security for very important people and places, reconnaissance, raids, peacekeeping, and sabotage. One likely current and future mission would be cross-border reconnaissance and raids into the Pakistani held areas of Kashmir. These missions would be focused against Islamic militants that operate in India but are supplied from and trained in Pakistan. Pakistan The SSG is capable of carrying out the following missions: counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, counter-insurgency, security for very important people and places, reconnaissance, raids, and riverine operations. The SSG has been accused by India of supporting and participating in incursions into India's portion of Kashmir. Such activities will continue until the political issues surrounding Kashmir are resolved. Another role for the SF of both countries would be long-range reconnaissance and possibly direct-action missions against the other country's ballistic missile forces and weapons-of-mass-destruction facilities. The most likely scenario would involve sets of small teams locating such missiles and facilities and reporting their precise coordinates to be used for a preemptive strike. If Pakistan or India develop or purchase smart munitions, another possible role for their SF will be to act as target designators. EQUIPMENT: Very little information is available concerning the weaponry, transportation assets, communication gear, and general equipment being used by the SF of the Indian and Pakistani armies. It is likely that both countries try to import or indigenously produce the best weapons and equipment they can purchase with their meager resources. CONCLUSION: Despite the sparse funding provided to them, the SF of India and Pakistan will continue to fulfill their roles as the tips of the spears for their respective armies. While both are highly trained and motivated, experts concede that Pakistan has the edge over India in Special Foces Operation capability. USA, UK and various other countries with whom both India and Pakistan have held joint specail forces exercises concede that Pakistan has better training, the forces are better led, equipped and more dedicated the Indian Special Forces.

Airborne Africa 2004. Results: 1 - Sth Africa = 479 2 - India = 471 3 - The Netherlands = 465 4 - Pakistan = 456 Link: link NOTE: India won this competition a couple of years ago. Merc, I'm afraid real world tests do not match with your analysis. Perhaps if you posted a link regarding that analysis (if one exists), it would be more believable..

This is taken word for word from specialoperations.com. It is NOT original work. The ONLY part that is original is the very last part, "While both are highly trained and motivated, experts concede that Pakistan has the edge over India in Special Foces Operation capability. USA, UK and various other countries with whom both India and Pakistan have held joint specail forces exercises concede that Pakistan has better training, the forces are better led, equipped and more dedicated the Indian Special Forces." This part appears only in this post, not in specialoperations.com's assessment. It has been placed here, I am sure, simply to make the Indian SpecOps look bad. Hey, mercenary2k, if this is true, then why is it that when there was the first historic meeting between Vajpayee and Musharraf a few years back, they had the INDIAN SpecOps (the NSG), stand guard instead of the Pakistani forces? Even though the meeting was in Karachi, the governments agreed that they would be safer with the Indians standing guard then the Pakis!

Genesis    India's unique guerrilla warfare school    11/4/2005 2:40:07 AM
India's unique guerrilla warfare school VAIRENGTE (MIZORAM) Last spring when Alaska Guardsmen Staff Sgt. Michael Grunst and eight other American infantry soldiers arrived at this hilltop village in India's remote northeastern state of Mizoram, they were not at all thrilled. Little did they know that in the tiny tribal hamlet, wedged on the border between Mizoram and the state of Assam, lay one of the world's best guerrilla warfare schools. After six weeks at the Counter Insurgency Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) at Vairengte, the nine soldiers of the Alaska Army National Guard's Long Range Surveillance Detachment were left awestruck. "This was the most amazing military education facility anywhere," Grunst told his superiors on returning to Alaska. Grunst's comments were subsequently reproduced in the unit's in-house journal. The school at Vairengte is today considered as one of world's most prestigious anti-terrorist institution with troops from several countries receiving counter-insurgency training here. Genesis    US soldiers learn jungle warfare from Indians   11/4/2005 2:46:00 AM
US soldiers learn jungle warfare from Indians Raiding terrorist hideouts, fending for themselves in deep forests and honing firing skills against unconventional targets, some 120 Indian and America soldiers are carrying out the largest ever joint military exercise in the thick jungles of Mizoram. This is the first joint infantry exercise between the two countries. It is being held at the sprawling campus of the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, a unique military training centre for training soldiers to fight terrorists in natural surroundings. Reputed to be the world's only one in its league, the school has been quietly shaping critical leadership and soldiers of several nations, including Nepal and Sri Lanka, for unconventional warfare. for more: link

Hamza Hamza PAkISTAN       1/15/2009 1:19:17 AM
Listen Berden this was not because Pakistani forces can't do the job, nut because Vajpai did not wanted his own guards to be there, a political stance. And Paksitan who was willing to have peace in the region agreed to this.  Indian forces who even can't take over the Mumbai attack culprits can they be matched with Paksitani forces. They took so long not only to come in there and when they did cleared of certain parts of the hotels then the terrorists came up again by no how and then started again the band of firing. Is this the apptitude of your forces. Think before writig any stupidity.

They were not invited in Iraq for helping in the situation but to styand as guards for the American troops stationed there. Your are still slaves of them, and secondly Paksitani troops train with Saudi Arab, china, Americans, SAS, Jordan forces and oters in the list too. We have aslo9 trained the Sirilankan commando units, and Malaysians too. Our special forces were the one's who worked with Mujahidens in Afghanistan and beated up the Sovient Union of Russia which led up to its fall.
