Apocryphal or not, the contention has always been that an only child grows up as a spoiled brat.
 
After all, look at "Barry" Soebarkah (adopted as such by "Lolo" Soetoro to become a citizen of the Republic of Indonesia and "a good Muslim schoolboy," who never did change his legal name back to "Barack Hussein Obama II" after getting shoved off to grow up as an only child in the household of Stanley Ann Dunham's parents in Honolulu), America's Fraudulence-in-Chief.
