Well there are 130?s hitting the front lines, just not on a consistent basis, because of their vulnerability to SA-7?s As for F-16?s they are not that effective at close in fire support there are far better plane, and also they would need to be refueled so often, that it would not be cost effective. F-14?s I won?t even waste my time explain how bad an idea that is. Unfortunately the best plane (F/A-18) that is readily available for the mission of precision targeting of tanks and other vehicles is being used.
As for why no carpet bombings I would assume that they are holding off until the Northern Alliance are actually ready to move and there is a political solution to who is in charge when the dust settles. Despite the protestations of the Northern Alliance, they are actually ill prepared to launch a massive broad thrust. Why wipe out all the resistance in front of them just so they in turn get wiped out by another group of Taliban troops. Wait until they are ready to properly exploit the holes that would be created, while where they are at now, they have time to train new recruits, build up supplies, and organize.
We have only been going at them for a few weeks after all, just imagine if we had been this impatient during World War 2 or the beginning of the Cold War. We might either be glowing in the dark or speaking German.
