Check your link forces in afghanistan are stacked up considerably within the next days for imminent combat. Numbers are sketchy but include several thousand special forces from germany, britain and other european country and also quite some heavy gear.

No precide data or targets but I think it wont take much to make ones mind up. Dostum, the southern Taliban-Regions, the recent koran-agitation, upcoming parlamentarian elections... both sides start to position themselves and are going at it seriously. This could be the last stand for the Taliban but also the start for iraq-like terrorism with major loses on both sides.

The most ugly side-scenario is the recent Usbekistan unrest and may well cripple NATO operability in the region.
