In 2030 the AdA will be wholly dependent on 4th gen combat aircraft whereas the RAAF will be fielding 5th generation types en masse.
 
Furthermore, if we DO end up keeping the Shornets, we might have a wonderful stand-off jamming capability to go with the F-35's VLO and highly developed ECM suite.
