Subject: 6*F-22 vs 6*Typhoon vs 6*Rafale in the UAE?!
giblets    11/16/2009 4:48:58 AM
According to both Flight Global, and Defence News, other than attending the Dubai airshow, the USAF, RAF, and FAF each sent 6 of their finest fighter aircraft to the desert Kingdom to take part in multinational exercises. Other than adding much fuel to the fire for forum members here! It raises many questions (such as why the USAF was unable to send 1 F-22 to Paris, and can now send 6 to the UAE, despite no drop in operational tempo). And will the F22 and Typhoon not be in the air at the same time again?

You want to know why you catch so much merde, BW?  It's your damn attitude.  You're all about bonhommie and charm, but only if the poster agrees with you 100%.  If they don't, well, they're complete morons not to be paid attention to.

So when GF-Aust comes on here and posts some of the very graphs, ideas, and links you claim to be the only one here to do (which is complete BS; even I post links now and then), you throw him in the same bag as Hamlicar simply because he disagrees with you.  And that's been pretty much your modus operandi since the first day you came to SP--if we agree with you, you're our best friend, but if we disagree with you, we're horrible ignorant anti-French poseurs.  You simply cannot accept the fact that you might be wrong about something, especially if it's your favorite aircraft.  (I love the A-4, but you don't see me on here claiming it was the best aircraft of the Vietnam War.)

This "anti-French bias" you claim to see everywhere is nothing but a crutch.  The Rafale isn't selling? Must be an American plot.  God forbid it would be the fact that the Rafale might not be what everyone wants or that it's in a glutted fighter market.  It's an American plot because Dassault is perfect and has never turned out a dog or rushed a design into production.

Or maybe it's perfect because it's French.  Someday you people will get over Waterloo, and I wish that day would come soon.

BW, I regard you as an intelligent human being.  I don't often post in these threads because I get lost very quickly in radar design, ranges, and anything to do with math.  I don't try and pretend I'm an expert at this stuff, because I'm not.  I think you would get a lot more people listening to you if you quit acting like a spanked child every time someone disagrees with you on something.

gf , a long time ago I had trust in you and in your posting . But I 've seen you so many times wrong and so many times biaised that I put you in the same bag than Herald

1) If I'm wrong I'm man  enough to learn once everything has been explained and sourced
2) when I'm wrong I'm man enough to acknowledge it
3) If I'm wrong I want to know because I want to learn - I don't assume that everything I say is right, and I'm sure as ready to accept it if its wrong
4) Biased?  where.  show me the money.  again you misunderstand because I don't know how many times I have pointed out that its got nothing to do with the french or french technology - in fact I probably criticise australian and allied defence issues far more than french because of obvious reasons.  your appeal to persecution by bias is just a convenient crutch

again, argue and debate on technical merit.  if your intention is to do that then start getting first principles right and start to demonstrate that you understand concepts.

I've said repeatedly that if you pull your head in and behave like a normal individual then I'll cut you some slack.  However don't come in here prancing about like a 3 legged horse full of blather and indignation when you get so MANY basic concepts wrong.

I have a problem and you also have a problem .

I don 't know how I could make myself clearer and you don 't know how to respond to the facts I provide .

You have no facts.

Example : I post some numbers about HA-100 which are better than Silent Sentry , I also post some stuff about a new breed French low band radar (RIAS) with pictures , which apparently nobody here knew about , and all I get is personal attacks from Hamilcar and gf .

You posted advertising.

I know the reason why , since you can 't argue against the numbers I provide , you shot at the messenger . As usual

The message was noise.
.
Why nobody said "Wow , that HA-100 is a nice piece of kit" or "I 'd like to know more about the RIAS system , it sounds interesting" ?

Because it isn't.

I tell you why , your Egos don 't like to see a better stuff than the ones you have . When it happens , you throw your toys out of the pram and fire at me all guns blazing . Yes , my real knowledge on radars , maths , and EM propagation is average but I 've never said otherwise .

Hate the French conspiracy.

I try to give some numbers (all checkable on open sources) , pictures , etc , and I have Hamilcar coming with :

Your numbers are bogus. Just a simple radar horizon check shows that.

""As for your other noise, who cares? Its just noise.""

Furthermore , this so-called knowledgeable poster later on give me some irrelevant pdf to read .

Hamilcar , Hello ? DO YOU HEAR ME ?... The pdf you gave me is about radars destinated to cars , you silly person !

It describes how a pole radar array works you silly person. SAME principle applied to your so called RIAS, but now at least you understand why I was amused, TRUCK DRIVER.

First , I couldn 't believe it but as I was reading , it became obvious . It is about radar avoidance , object avoidance , etc ...

Not exactly.

To make it short , it talks about the radars you have in the front and in the back of your car to help you to park (example)

Not exactly, truck driver .

Lololol !!!!! I am pissing myself , lololol !!!

Maybe you could make ther connection with your pretty photo? No0 you didn't

It 's noted .

Hamilcar (Herald) , not only you just show that you know nothing about radars and you also don 't know how to "google" stuff . It 's pathetic

I wonder if you exactly realize what I was doing here, truck driver?   Read the PDF again, and this time pay attention to how angle measurement is taken and what that radar system does.

gf , a long time ago I had trust in you and in your posting . But I 've seen you so many times wrong and so many times biaised that I put you in the same bag than Herald . It is a pity as your knowleadge on some topics is more than often an eye opener , which has never been the case for Herald while he sometimes have good things to post .

BS.

To your eyes , I am an ignorant troll ( at least it is what you say here on SP) but I am also sure that I surprised you many times . If you would only stick to the facts or the matter at hand , my posting attitude would change in no time , that I can promise .

Well since you missed the point of the pole radar array as described......

So , one has a question regarding the HA-100 and the RIAS radar or it doesn 't interest anyone ?

No, it's more like we're tired of having you squirm around and morph every discussion through two or three other topics.  Now you've mutated this one into something (and I'm not sure just exactly what) about a French PCL radar and a French HF radar.  What's the point, and what are we supposed to be discussing about them--in particular, that we haven't already discussed previously?  We've (including *you*) discussed HA-100 and other systems like it *thoroughly* here on SP already.  I'm not sure that anyone really talked much about RIAS here before, but it is not a new system.  As I recall off-hand, that radar is not operational as part of the French air defense network, but was built many years ago for research and testing of OTH radar--but maybe I'm wrong about that.  Neither of them is something of any special interest to me, nor I would guess, to anyone else here.  But then, pretty much *nothing* about the French air defense network is of interest to me, because I am not particularly interested in the air defense networks of our allies.  Now, if you were to report to us that Thales is trying to export some HA-100 systems to a country that we might actually have to go bomb someday, *then* I'd be interested to hear any other new details you might have read, or heard from one of your two friends.

Although, I do admit I still would not mind hearing how many HA-100 are in operation with the French military.  If you can tell me anything about where they are, what units use them, where they deploy to during an alert, what communications systems they use to pass data into the French air surveillance network, maybe some details about the externals and internals of the datalink signal used to pass tracking and amplifying data, which commercial transmitters they currently rely on, how quickly can they switch over to synchronizing with alternate transmitters to maintain their air surveillance picture in case their primary transmitters happen to, ahem, go off the air for some reason, whether they have their own transmitters useable in case all the nearby commercial transmitters go off the air, etc., that would be somewhat interesting, as well.

Ok Gentlemen , it is my own fault if I get some slack , if it is what you want me to say .
Just a question : do I have to agree that everything the USA do is the best there is ? Just asking ...
...

Cheers .

JJ :
""i'm not anti french, thales is one of aussies bigger suppliers, i just dont like the way you act""

Fine . I 'll remember .

Since it seems that I don 't know how to post in a decent manner here on StrategyPage (far right military site) , how should I respond when I post some material some other users are just ignoring them or treating them as "advert brochures" ?
Should I try to find some better (?) material on open sources ? I do not have any "clearance" or whatsoever to have access to confidential data and if I had , I wouldn 't post them anyway for legal reasons .
Do I have to keep silence and act like I did not post anything and the other posters are right : it is garbage ?
Am I only allowed to ask questions and say "thank you Sir" when someone bother to respond ?

I mean , my attitude can be blamed but at least , have the politeness not to discard every paper I post because it is posted by me .
As an example , let 's take the HA-100 topic if you please . Some characteristics of the radar have been posted and compared with a similar US system . It seems that one radar works better than the other .
Soon , some people started to react very aggressively for apparently no other reasons than :
-1) it 's from BW
-2) it can 't be

Ok . I agree that it would be better to ask to one of the person behind the radar itself , maybe that person would be nicer than I am and would respond to questions regarding the HA-100 radar .
So , maybe one could ask to Jean-Philippe Brunet , he is the physicien behind the radar . He is also a Director Scientific at Thalès .
The articles I have posted are refering directly to his work . He also wrote articles in Air&Cosmos . I also have a US pdf study who speak about the RIAS radar as an extraordinary concept . But since it is on open sources , it is going to be discarded by many posters ...
What should I do ?
Organize a "Teamspeak" session with Mr Brunet and the SP posters to make a point ?

One more time , I understand my limited knowledge but please , try to read the papers I try to provide with a bit more respect , I didn 't write them .

You know , France has some very clever people and we sometimes "invent" things or ameliorate others .

Cheers .

Hamilcar , your post makes very little sense .
When I read in between the lines , you know that I am right and you only try to escape .
Don 't bother , it is not important as we are on the Net ...

Cheers .

Not my fault if you cannot understand SIMPLE English. You can't bluff your way out of this one, poster.  You really don't know how a pole array works.

It's probably a combination of that (a bluff) and willing himself into believing anything he doesn't understand is not related to aviation and relevant and thus must be an attempt to escape.
I cannot fathom the sadness of such a mind.
