the Australian Government had approved acquisition of the first batch of 14 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's

Approval of the next batch of aircraft and all necessary support and enabling capabilities, sufficient to establish three operational squadrons and a training squadron of CTOL JSF, will be considered in 2012.  This will fulfil our White Paper commitment to acquire three operational squadrons comprising not fewer than 72 aircraft.

@ jackjack

You left out the most important aspect of this deal; the price.

The price is AUD$3.2 billion, or USD$2.92 billion, for 14 planes.

That works out to be USD$208.57 million per plane. Furthermore, Australia is no longer saying 100 units, but a minimum of 72 units.

The link posted by SlowMan is well known and has been reported on today 's Daily Mail :

h*tp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1230724/UK-anger-America-refuses-share-secrets-new-radar-evading-Lockheed-F35-fighter-jet--Britain-helped-pay-for.html

a good bit :
""Rather than let its partners care for their own F-35 fleets, the US plans to set up a ?reprogramming facility? at Elgin Air Force base in Florida to further develop software and distribute upgrades to its disgruntled partners . Software changes will be integrated there ?and new operational flight programmes will be disseminated out to everybody who's flying the jet,? Schreiber added""

lol ! Good luck to the "partners" with that ... I imagine the possible outcome :
(customer) : "Can we come to Elgin as we need the latest updates ?"
(US Official) : "Sorry but we are already updating the F-35s from (fill the dot) and we still have to finish those from (fill the dots), phone us back in 4 to 6 months , thank you "
(customer) : "what the fu*k ??!"
(US official line) : "tut ...tut ...tut ...tut"

Schreiber even added :
""?Nobody?s happy with it completely,? he admitted, but he insisted: ?Everybody?s satisfied and understands.""

What ?! He must be joking ... Nobody is happy , nobody is satisfied but everybody understand the trap and the blackmail .
Ah ! The US aviation industry shows again its leitmotiv : "as long as Dollars keep coming , we piss on you dear customer , oh and by the way , we also sell excellent umbrellas" .

The F-35 program looks better and better by the day , lol !

Cheers .

seriously, why are these 2 morons allowed bandwidth?

hows that ram coated AAR probe coming along sport?
hows those Rafale sales going to all the enthhusiastic 2nd tier airforces?
hows that heat sink going on the rear stove pipe for missile seduction
hows that heat sink on the rear stove pipe going with calming down the aft sensor?
hows that panel fit going on the french attempts to sawtooth signal management on rafale?
the US doesn't want anyone to know the truth about the F-22, thats why RAAF and RAF pilots have been operational with their premier F-22 squadron out at Elemendorf for 3 years - you know Elmendorf, the place where F-22's are based and regarded as the first exit port for USAF F-22's in wartime.

etc etc...  or do we need to start trotting out the Rafale photos again in case you have selective memory.

and btw, you do understand why the RAAF JSF costs for the 14 are initially high don't you?  if not feel free to explain how the RAAF sunk and established through life costs are worked out - they aren't the same as USAF TLS - but you knew that already didn't you?  NOT..

you do realise that some of those costs include full establishment costs because that squadron will train and stand up in the US?
you do realise that its virtually impossible to do a one for one platform cost in military procurement because TLS is done - not lets buy it walmart and provide the front end over the counter price?
you do realise that you have no idea and publicly can't control yourself so continually need to come out an embarass yourself with frequent regularity so as to look knowledgable?

somewhere a village has lots its resident idiot.  its time for you to go back home again.

You too are pathetic , and blind .

no, its very simple kid.

answer the questions.  you do this all the time.  you get exposed with facts, you complain about being hard done by, you run away and the n you come back with nonsense.

this time, answer the facts rather than revert to form.

again, your technical comprehension and factual reporting skills are limited to the internet - and you still don't demonstrate any capacity to understand what happens in real life.

explain how the costings are done in australia for this tranche of JSF and prove how much you don't know?

I wait with somewhat guarded enthusiasm for another inane round of pseudo technical babble - but I am prepared to wait.

hows that RAM going on the Rafales refueling probiscus?

You too are pathetic , and blind .

let me make you a public offer.

If you can find anywhere over the last 5-6 years where I have deliberately skewed or misrepresented material just to establish a point, where I have deliberately polluted material, where I have deliberately misquoted material, where I have outright lied then I will leave your posts alone and you alone from this point on.  The counter being that I'm free to denounce and correct your rubbish at will when you fail.

I'll hold my 6 year timeframe against anything you have posted in the last month.  So the odds are approx 72:1 in your favour.  Thats a pretty good handicap in anyones language.

I'll wager my actual technical proficiency against your internet expertise without fear or favour

.good luck fishing.
