Since the F-35 isn't flying out of Luke, I'd like to know how they know it's going to be louder than the F-16 (which is pretty damn loud).

Yeah, go ahead and sue.  Good luck with that.  Win the suit, Luke closes, instant implosion of local economy.  But hey, at least it's quiet!

This lawsuit is worth just about the paper it is printed on.  The only winners here are the lawyers.

F-119/F-135 engines are super noisy according to residents of Kaneda and El Mirage.

Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs said any conjecture about an El Mirage lawsuit is premature
because Luke has not yet learned what role it might play with the F-35 and impact studies have
not yet been conducted, let alone questioned.

Okay, for starters, the town is catching hell from surrounding communities for the possibility of a lawsuit.

Second, they haven't even said whether the aircraft will be based at Luke AFB.

Third,  Slowman, a little lesson for you......

Sound energy is measured in units called Bels.

Because a Bel is a large, unwieldy unit,  we use decibels as a common unit.

Exactly how many decibels is "super noisy"? I can't quantify "Super Noisy", and it certainly wouldn't be the basis for a lawsuit.

As I recall, you cannot sue the federal government without their permission.  Maybe the government will just say "No".

As an alternative, the bases was probably there first and the communities grew around them.  The government could just claim eminent domain, buy up the town at market prices, evict the residents, and convert them to base housing or level the town.  Might make the next town think twice about suing.

Going from Google Maps, is El Mirage a suburb of Pheonix Arizona? Besides, wouldn't the majority of flying take place during the day, with evening training listed on their web site to inform residents? ;)

Lots of airports in that area even without that AFB (4 within 20km?)

How would they know?  Has the USAF been testing F119/F135 powerplants there?

People in Chicago bitch about noise pollution from O'Hare.  No one's seriously contemplating closing the place over it.
