Subject: Dassault VP : Rafale's successor will join Eurofighter Consortium-like Euro Consortium.
SlowMan    10/19/2009 4:07:06 PM
New York Times article < link > "Dassault appears to be thinking along the same lines. Eric Trappier, executive vice president at Dassault Aviation, said that Rafale?s ?successor will probably be designed through a European cooperation, from 2025.? " So this is the end of all-French fighter aircraft.

The basis for your article?

Mr Obama said: 'We don?t have a stronger friend and stronger ally than Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French people.'

Maybe the french should be careful about their close relationship with the americans....britain gets burned over and over

Do your own original  research and do not crib off others' work.

There is no merit to those who claim to have found something on their own, when its obvious they had read what already been published and commented upon.

France has long been a big player in the military hardware sector. But with competition extending from the United States to Europe, its latest fighter jet, the Rafale, has failed to set the world alight.

True statement.

It's Julian Assange - but he's still an arsehole - with a "freedom of speech" messiah complex...(as long as it suits his freedom of speech definitions... :)

I agree that he is an irritant and a deviant who may be properly charged for his alleged criminal acts in SWEDEN. I do not see where he has broken American law..

His US source (who may have broken American law) is rotting in a prison cell not more than a couple of hundred kilometers from me at the moment, No lawyer can see him without running a legal gauntlet that makes an Elizabethan star chamber look like an open legal procedure. No civil rights such as habeus corpus or a proper charging in public hearing has really occurred. I'm raising some hell about it, because the soldier still has some civil rights. It looks to me that Julian Assanje has concrete reason to be afraid for more than his free speech here. I would be concerned, with the gang of fools who trample my nation's Constitution into the dust at the moment, if I were he..

As for the British, the subs, are British, the warheads are British, the RV bodies are British, the targeting is British. I get tired of the French fanbois who claim that the British D-5s are American D-5s with a Union Jack painted on it. We do not control what the British put on the rockets we sold them, nor how their rockets are used.

The only reason that the French never got the same deal, was because we did not trust them. After our WW II experiences with the Vichy and with the Free French why would we trust them with weapons of mass destruction delivery systems?
