Subject: The death of a fighter
Bluewings12    10/17/2009 2:14:13 PM
Clearly , the Dassault Rafale is dead . SYSOP decided to kill it . Since I am on the Net , I have never seen such thing before ... I am speechless ... I knew from day one (about 7 years ago) what Strategypage was and their last strike is , well ... stupid and partial . It reminds me a Doctor House episode where the American multi millionaire tries to have him sacked by firing first Greg 's best friend and then Doc Cody herself . Posters , this is what SP is and the people running the site clearly claims : "you get in line or your words will be vaporized" "your words" are not only mines or FS's but also yours . The time you took to respond to us French posters , the time you took to do some research and/or post has been spit on and deleted . I understand that some of us pay for being on this site with some privileges , others are free to post without the privileges but can we really agree with such behavior from the people running the site ? Myself , I feel insulted to say the least . Cheers .

From Heorot quote :
""This, it believes, would provide data to back up its claims that TVN could reduce fuel burn on a typical Typhoon mission by up to 5%, as well as increase available thrust in supercruise by up to 7% and take-off thrust by 2%.""

This has nothing to do with TVC but it is a good trick ...

usajoe :
""LOL!!! why do you pull stuff out of you A@#  kid? and where did you get those stupid numbers?
 You are one pathetic joke!""

I get these numbers from my understanding based on multiples sources like the USAF , Lockmart , Boeing , Dassault , Rand and  Sukhoi to name some .
Could you please stop posting short or very short BS and try to make a case because you look more and more like a troll and I mean it .

Cheers .

Studies has shown that TVC is of marginal need in today air combat and add cost and weight unless you suppress or diminish size of rear stabilizer (like on F22 or F23).F35 TVC was cancelled also for same reason.

No, it is not, however I think that the SYSOP's decision is a wise one. I mean Rafale as a topic need to have a recess. Honestly the discussion about Rafale was not good and unnecessarily rude and stealing from other topics. The worst part has been the fact sad that any thread on warplain ended as Rafale thread and even if the thread that started quite well many times ended as a BS throwing contest.
On the different topic, where is Herald?

Cheers.

Until I see a F-35-A and/or C with external stores making 5g turns at Mach 1.2 @5000ft or at Mach 1.4@ 35000ft , allow me to doubt .

And the point of an F-35 doing this would be what exactly???

I very much doubt any jet would be doing this in a combat scenario.

Why the sudden turn at fairly high-g? Were they caught unawares from behind as if the missile/plane was only a matter of seconds from impacting their rear? Were their onboard/offboard data so compromised that the F-35 didn't get a "heads-up" sooner?

I'd suggest that if the jet described found itself in the "no escape zone" then it is game over, regardless of who the manufacturer of said plane was.

Curious.

you whine to the greater audience that you want to be taken seriously and yet you post nonsense like this as a defence of your position.?

what relevance is there to arguing about whether a 4th gen platform with no internal weapons carriage flying dirty and doing 5g turns against a 5th gen platform where internal carriage is a design element of its signature management.

apart from the fact that any platform with external carriage is going to be lit up like an angler fish in a goldfish bowl, what tactical message are you trying to tell everyone?
