Subject: russia to buy rafales pixie dust
jackjack    10/11/2009 8:33:59 AM
just what we need is another rafale topic..LOL link h*tp://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=3658019 Thales Targets Sales in Russia Paris - Thales is looking for export sales of its airborne optronics equipment on to Russian-built fighters, given that the U.S. market is effectively closed to foreign suppliers of such gear, CEO Denis Ranque said. That weakness in the fleet of Sukhoi and MiG fighters has opened up opportunities for selling products such as the Damocles targeting pod and OSF infrared search-and-track equipment fitted on the Rafale fighter from France's Dassault Aviation, Ranque says.

FJV    It's not Europe's gas   10/14/2009 3:43:43 PM
It's Russia's natural gas.
Why do you think Europeans have to pay for it before it's theirs?
And why does the Ukraine gets a free pass when it does ex-act-ly the same as Russia when it is blocking gas supplies to Europe.

It is the European elite that does not want to have a realistic energy policy, which makes Europe dependent on instable supplies of energy.
Why should I blame the Russians for what the bureaucrats in Brussels and every capital in Europe will not do?

So if Europe doesn't do exactly as Putin wants them to, they deserve what they get?

I didn't realize Chamberlain Syndrome was spreading so rapidly across the SP boards.

Well invading Russia would be a little harder than invading Iraq, wouldn't it ?
Putin (as the leader of Russia) uses the means he has to enforce his nation's interests, just like everyone else does. No use whining about it.
It sure makes me feel good that France has so many nuclear plants, though.

This photo is those of a prototype without the coating displayed in show and which have been submissed to many repairs (see rivets).
I was the first to display here such a photo to show that often Rafale are displayed without the coating.
Not a proof, I can find photo of F18 in a bad shape as well.

To be fair, salt air does do a number to airframes while at sea.  That's true on anyone's carriers.

That first picture, though--looks to me that a plane captain needs to get his ass chewed a bit.  One of those inspection panels looks loose.

The pictures provided are old shots from Rafale F1s onboard CdG .
Since , things have changed dramatically and the Rafale M-F3 in use today is top notch :

For everybody to see ...

Cheers .

45-Shooter    Rafale RCS joke?   10/22/2009 8:28:06 PM
Three points;

1. The Ruskies did not jump on this deal with both feet? Why not, maby their Frogish Comi Spies know enough about it to understand it's true worth?

2. Rafale's real RCS is measured in whole Meters^2! Not fractions of a meter as claimed here! We know this for a fact from the many times it has been demonstraited for potential customers over seas and can be infered when they have chosen other planes instead of Rafale! That they know it too, is one, maby the primary, reason they are working on active counter measures. It turns out that stealth is very many times harder to get right than it looks from first start!

3. No one but French sales clercs claim that Rafale is the least bit stealthy when compaired to Eurofighter, F-15-16-18A/D or any Ruski bird. That F/A-18E/F is an order of magnatude better RCS is also well known by now!  Note how it has grown untill it is nearly F-15 in size and weight? Larger planes can mount larger antennas and heavier electronics pacdkages that give better performance. Even worse, the B-1B is much stealthier than Rafale with a RCS 1/10th as large!
