Subject: russia to buy rafales pixie dust
jackjack    10/11/2009 8:33:59 AM
just what we need is another rafale topic..LOL link h*tp://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=3658019 Thales Targets Sales in Russia Paris - Thales is looking for export sales of its airborne optronics equipment on to Russian-built fighters, given that the U.S. market is effectively closed to foreign suppliers of such gear, CEO Denis Ranque said. That weakness in the fleet of Sukhoi and MiG fighters has opened up opportunities for selling products such as the Damocles targeting pod and OSF infrared search-and-track equipment fitted on the Rafale fighter from France's Dassault Aviation, Ranque says.

hey, dont shoot the messenger, i was just passing on that the russians will get french pixie dust and was wondering what the "expert" french posters thought what the su-30 rcs would be when this is sprinkled
what you need to do is join their circle and hold hands and chant " we believe"
after all, what are the chances that they are just know-nothing fanboying trolls

Does France really want to sell this stuff to the Russians--you know, the guys who will go and sell such tech immediately to potential enemies of France?

I'm sure that will make Rafale and Mirage drivers the AdA over happy that they might be facing their own damn electronics in combat.

I take this article with a grain of salt , but it is indeed a possible deal .
France could indeed sell different optical and /or IR hardware to Russia . Not that I like it but it is possible .

What people have to understand is that Russia is not seen anymore as a potential powerfull enemy enough to take on the 27 Nations of Europe . They also don 't want a nuclear war . Europe is now far stronger than Russia is and by miles .

Cheers .

Interesting. France isn't below this either, but then I've seen them do worse in the past.
The fact that the Russians haven't pounced on this western equipment would seem to indicate the qualities of what I've heard is above-average French gear.

then take ya fingers out ya arse and google and come back to us

you might even find the MOU

Five to one says he tries to avoid long articles of hostile (to his mindframe) facts he might understand.
Fortunately he's got a sterling case of active denial to serve as the primary for his passive denial, so you may get a response yet, if that's what you wanted.

Anyway, thanks for informing me. I had heard nasty rumours about the French selling out on us again.
    Confirmed.

By 'rumours' meaning news reports I found rather shocking, but which seemed to be true.

What this confirms for me is certainty, and that it is rather substantial.

    Confirmed.

Who exactly is "us" again ?
The Cold War has been over for almost 20 years now. Contemporary Russia =/ USSR. The old saw of "wah wah if you have relations with the Russkies then you're a filthy bastard betraying the Free World !" is just what it is, an old saw.
NATO itself lost a lot of its legitimacy after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc. It still exists because it can get things done, but nowadays Russia is no more an enemy of France than the USA are.

When Putin next tries energy blackmail by turning off Europe's natural gas, I'll try to remember that.
