Subject: US demands Japan $10 million for the access to F-35 capability information
SlowMan    10/4/2009 11:44:49 AM
< link > "U.S. asks Japan to pay Y1 bil for fighter jet info Sunday 04th October, 10:53 AM JST TOKYO — The U.S. government has asked Japan to pay around 1 billion yen for information related to the capabilities of the U.S. F-35 fighter jet, a leading candidate for JapanĄŻs next-generation mainstay fighter, sources close to Japan-U.S. relations said Saturday. The U.S. side has also told Japan that Washington will provide information on the jetĄŻs stealth capabilities for evading radar detection once Tokyo makes a decision to purchase the fighter jet, the sources said." Well, the US DoD is pushing Japan into the arms of Eurofighter...

"Provide a reputable link to prove so."

We have been asking him to provide some links to back up his various idiotic claims since he arrived.

No luck yet...

maruben    Too much fuss   10/7/2009 1:23:04 PM

The unofficial record of the conversation of the fee.
Boei sho man: Sorry for disturbing you, my friend, but we need some information about the F-35.
Pentagon man: Are you interesting in the F-35? Great! What do you need?

Boei sho man: Some info about the attacking capabilites of the F-35...

Pentagon man: Oh my God! I see... Please remember the F-35 in a multinational project so if  you want that info you will need to pay us and the other countries a fee.

Boei sho man: What? but I am just asking...

Pentagon man: I am sorry, but these are the rules of the project.

Boei sho: Oh my God! But... how much is it?

Pentagon man: About $10 million.

Boei sho man:  But.... Ok, Ok. We will pay but give us a discount... cheaper fee, please.

Pentagon man: Well...no problem.

Boei sho man: Great! and thank you. And please do not forget that on october 20th my boss Kitazawa San will talk about the F-35 with you boss Gates San...

Pentagon man: Yes... the meeting...yes! That meeting is very important for the F-35. Actually, the F-35 is almost the only topic of the meeting... very boring, is it not?

Boei sho man: Do not worry. After the meeting I will take you for a fine and expensive Japanese dinner.

Pentagon man: Thanks you a lot. That would make my day.

Boei sho man: You are welcome and thanks to you for the discount. We need a new fighter soon before our F-4s become flying coffins like those Indian Mig-21... Well I need to go...Sayonara....

Pentagon man: Yeah, I will see you on October 20th. Good bye...

Conclusion: The fee maybe was a surprise for Japan, but Japan accepted to pay it. That is important because it shows a real interest from Japan about the F-35 and it is the first time in several months that the Boei sho and the Pentagon agreed about something related to stealth figthers.
I can not understand why the fuss about the payment.

Actually the F-35 was recommended by Gates himself in last May to our MoD.

@ Slim Pickinz

> Provide a reputable link to prove so.

Something like this is a very basic material and you shouldn't participate in these discussions without having it beforehand. Anyway, here you go. < link >

@ maruben

> Boei sho man: Some info about the attacking capabilites of the F-35...

Why would attacking capability of F-35 matter when Japan is looking for an air superiority fighter in FX1 competition?

> I can not understand why the fuss about the payment.

This fee is an insult to Japanese pride. Now this shows you really don't understand the people you thought you understood.

Oh it was recommended... the US would like to sell the F-35 to Japan, but it is hardly "pushing" it on anyone.

Thus far the F-35 has really sold itself.

SlowMan...Maruben is Japanese.  So I think he understands the Japanese a lot better than some Korean-American fanboy who is convinced that war is imminent between Korea and Japan.  Despite there being absolutely no evidence for it, except for double-plus-good secret meetings that only you seem to know about.

To the idiot far right in Japanese politics, it may be an insult...but since they've never gotten over Midway, that's kind of their problem.  To the Japanese DoD, which has a number of smart people amongst them, it's a pain in the ass, but one that they're willing to pay to get a look at the F-35.

The term "recommend" doesn't translate into Japanese equivalent word of  "kanyuu" when it is the US DoD making the recommendation; it's translated into Japanese word of "oshiuri".

@ sentinel28a

Well, his fellow countrymen disagree. Having a Japanese citizenship isn't good enough to be "Japanese"; one has to be of 100% pure Japanese blood to be called "Japanese" and a foreign national of 100% pure Japanese blood is considered to be more "Japanese" than someone like Maruben, who holds Japanese citizenship but not really seen as being "Japanese" due to his mixed external appearance. This is why the world-famous actor Kaneshiro Takeshi is called "Chinese" by Japanese(This is why this Japanese national actor does 99% of his work in China, Taiwan, and HK. No job for a world famous "Chinese" actor in Japan), so does Japan's baseball legend Oh Sadaharu. This kind of extreme xenophobia unthinkable in the West is the norm and what governs politics in Asia(Everyone is guilty of it, Chinese less so because China has traditionally been a multi-ethnic society).

Let's see if I follow this.

A Korean-American guy knows more about Japanese society than a person who, you know, lives in Japan and almost certainly grew up there with family there.

You remind me of this guy I used to know who because he was an anime fan ("otaku," in the literal term), he knew everything about the Japanese.  The dumb bastard had never been out of Wisconsin, but he knew all.

Again, since this is coming from the guy who claims Godzilla and kung fu movies are accurate representations of Asian society, color me underwhelmed and unimpressed.  And damned tired of your racist attitude.

Japanese and Korean defense department and rightwingers strongly disagree. They have a score to settle, preferably sooner than later.

LMAO!!!

Are you really this stupid? or are you a 10 year old kid just playing stupid games?

Don't even bother joe, there's no way you will convince him otherwise. His super duper secret sources backing his ridiculous claim are too powerful. Try to think of slowkid in terms of a paranoid schizophrenic instead...no rational thought process.
