Fantastic.

Slowman once again proves himself worthy of being the idiot-in-residence.

The thing that he (and the cretin formerly known as idiot) don't understand is that when they have to resort to inventive imaginations in order to try and persuade people they have even a modicom of knowledge they are ultimately only decieving themselves.

It's painful reading Slowman's replies, and I think the fact that people are now largely ignoring his comments is testament to the value people place in them.

I'm sorry, I'm sure you're a nice guy - but looking at what you write objectively, it comes across as a mixture of imagination, ignorance, and attention-seeking.

You will one day look back at this and wonder why you tried as hard as you did to portray a version of reality which every intelligent person here can see is utterly ficticious.

All hail the new resident idiot!

@ Reactive

Care to be more specific? I don't call you a retard outright without explaining why, although I harbor that general feeling.

> It's painful reading Slowman's replies,

And it is painful to read this very post of yours.

> All hail the new resident idiot!

Yes, all Hail Reactive!!! Hail Reactive!!!

Slow man seems to get some enjoyment in watching people squirm.
He also seems to select which counter arguments he replies to.
That or he really isn't interested in talking mathematical modelling on CATIA anymore.

Huh?

He seems to enjoy making a fool of himself and being a general troll.

Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but most certainly a tool.

He is sharp enough to determine with which posters he will get into an entertaining flame war and with which posters he will get into a "boring" discussion about getting the correct factor in a feedback loop of a computer model.

There are lots of people who put outrageous stuff on forums just for the entertainment of it.

Well, he certainly seems to be one of them.  I guess he figures if he throws enough bombs out there sooner or later someone will take the time to kick him around for a little while... which does seem to be what he is after.

The problem with his particularly amateurish brand of trolling is that people recognize it for what it is pretty darn quickly and just start making fun of him rather than going to the trouble to try to educate him.

Yes, but he gets even that wrong.

There are lots of people who put outrageous stuff on forums just for the entertainment of it.

As for the rest of his activity he's fishing for knowledge and I'm tired of trying to teach.

Just because 95% of information on certain projects aren't in English doesn't mean they are not available. CIA specifically has thousands of intelligence agents whose job is to watch foreign TV and read foreign newspapers and internet sites to gather information in non-English languages.

If only!  Actually, I'd be surprised if DoD plus CIA together have *anyone* dedicated to doing this as their sole job function.  This is the sort of thing that just gets added into the duty description of analysts and supporting personnel as yet one more source of data that they are expected to also search through and use, along with everything else they are already swamped with.

The news is in.

KFX has been given the greenlight by all stakeholders on 15th. The project now awaits the presidential approval by the end of this year before the invitation for formal bidding by prospective contractors is given out.

This is the roughly agreed scope of KFX.

- Minimum thrust level of 50,000 lbs. This requirement excludes single engine option since there is no fighter engine that could generate a thrust level in excess of 50,000 lbs
- Roughly the size and weight of a Typhoon.
- Bidders will be asked to submit bids on derivative designs of their existing models and entirely new designs from scratch.
- Korean DoD has no preference for either a derivative of an existing design or a brand new design. Whichever option that provides most capability for development fund will be chosen, even if the brand new design costs much more than a derivative.
 - They are expecting $5 billion development cost for a derivative and $10 billion for a brand new design. This was the price quoted to Korean DoD by EADS.
- Fly-away cost target of $50 million in 2009 dollar.(Airplane only. Excludes spare, training, and support.)
- 250 unit.
- Korean avonics, radar, ane electric warfare subsystem..

The big KFX hold-up was surprising said to be the vender(KAI), which insisted on F-50. A break-through was reached when KAI agreed to give up on F-50 proposal. Now everyone fears that KAI's attempting to sell something like F/A-100(a twin engine version of F/A-50, hence F/A-100) or Super Falcon(An enlarged F-16 with F135 engine and internal weapons bay).

Korean airforce has indicated its preference for a Typhoon derivative with internal weapons bay and uprated EJ-2X0 engines, and the agreed scope does read "Typhoon-sized", but there is an exchange rate problem of strong Euro..
