Subject: first export sale for Rafale
FCUS    6/19/2009 4:50:01 AM
The Rafale is going to be the UAE AF new plane. The UAE government just sent the "technical and operationnal specifications" to the french gov.

The UAE wish to acquire 60 Rafale of a more modern version than the one used in France, with for example more powerful engines and radar.

This new version, which we will call tranche 4 (Rafale F4), could one day also be in service in the French AF.

This is good news for Dassault. With one export order, the Rafale is more likely to be chosen in Switzerland and Brazil where he was the favourite.

Guys, I think I've had an epiphany.  The key to understanding BW's posts is the realization that 1) to him lying and exaggerating are two different things, and 2) putting the greatest possible spin on the story by selectively reporting facts and interpreting them in the most favorable way is completely reasonable and is merely telling the truth.  Thus, keeping in mind 1) and 2), it is the "truth" to say there is a 9.5ton M88 ready to go right now.

Good epiphany Warpig !

Indeed , against US flag wavers I sometimes have to choose the good bits who go my way but I still say the thruth .
Unlike many well known US posters ...

Cheers .

Exaggerating and selectively reporting only the favorable portions of the story is commiting the very worst sort of lying--yes, ***LYING***.  Better to just say nothing than to speak/write with the intention to mislead--even if only by "merely" omitting certain pertinent, but known to you, details.  Bad enough to be a bold liar; even worse to be a sly liar.

Please Gents , stop it with your nonsenses . I am not lying , I only use the weapons at hand .
Everything I say can be verified (and has been verified) .

Let 's go back on topic .

Then be stoned, because Strategy Page isn't a contest or a debate society where the only thing that counts is winning your argument, and I don't intentionally gloss over or leave out pertinent facts about French systems or anyone else's:  It's contrary to my training.  The worst disservice anyone can do to his commander (or in this case his audience) is to intentionally withhold data from him that you consider to be pertinent, thus preventing him from being able to make the most-informed decision possible.  If your memory is too short, I'll remind you that I've posted more than once that I'd rather have Rafales with MICAs on my side than Su-35s with AA-12s, for example.

It can be verified, LOL, yah in your own fantasy world. I can not believe that someone can lie so much without any proof to back up any thing he says. The one time you did try to post some proof, Herald came and embarrassed you and made you look like the lier that you are. When are you going to learn?

"Rufus , for the Xth time I am not lying . Check what I said about the M88 family and what you found on the Net , it is EXACTLY the same for God sake !"

For the Xth time, you are a liar.  I knew you were lying from the start, and have since provided everyone with links that prove it.

Yes Snecma started to design the M88-4 in 1995 (I was right) as a 110kn engine (I was right) for the M2000 (I was right) and the M88-3 was already on the bench (I was right) . That was in 1995 , 14 years ago .
Where is your problem ?

Already on the bench?  Where the heck do you get that little bit of information?  "considering" is not the same thing as "in testing" and for that matter "in testing" sure as heck isn't the same thing as being ready for production, which was your original lie.

You are a liar, and you don't seem to be smart enough to know when you have been caught.

"We are now 14 years later and the M88-3 is working as intended , thank you . As I explained before , the problem is with the manufacturing funding . France and Snecma will not start the production before 2011 .
Any other questions ?"

Working as intended?  They haven't even mated the high pressure and low pressure engine sections yet.  They haven't even BEGUN to test the new engine yet.

Are you literate?  Can you read the links I provided you?

We can, and thus we all know that you are a liar. (and this is sadly not the first, second or third time you have been caught)

I will repeat the relevant facts for you:

The M88-3 is a developmental engine.  It is certainly not ready for production and simply waiting for funds.  If funded, it will need years of work before it is actually available for service.  All of these FACTS are available in the articles I have provided.

Lying about it won't change a thing.

Whatever dude, I have no desire to get into a shouting match with the wannabie fighter jocks of the FBR irrespective of their nationality.

If you think this was anything but a politcal move then you are sadly mistaken. Now let me ask you some questions.

1)What other air craft is the UAE considering?

2)Why would the UAE need any new fighters? their force of F16 block 60's and Mirage 2000-9's are more than capable of providing Air Superiority over its rivals.

3)Do you think it's a coincidence that France opens a new base in UAE, has some sort of a defense pact with them, and all of the sudden UAE fills like they need to buy 60 Rafales?

4)Do you think every defense deal, whether American, French, British or Russian, etc... is done with only capabilities being taken into account?

If you actually bother to respond to my entire post instead of one line which in isolation piques your need to engage in a pissing contest about the Rafale, I might consider responding further. You'll need to demonstrate that you have actually thought outside your usual box though, I won't bother if you just repeat the same mantra. Otherwise continue to have fun with your friend bluewings.

I do no want to get in a pissing contest about the Rafale, and that is why I'm going to stop responding to BW on this subject. Now I have never called the Rafale crap or bashed French tech. just for the sake of bashing. You can go back to many different posts and see that I have defended French Tech. when people were bashing it for the sake of bashing. I have defended certin parts of the bird that I think are good and criticized others that are not so good. Now, I only responed the way I do to people like BW, because they make this bird out to be the something it is not.

Now tell me where I'm wrong?
I think that purchasing the best fighter that they can afford is a smart move on the part of the UAE
The Rafale is not the best fighter they can afford, becuase it costs the most, from its competitors, and is not the best all around bird from the bunch.

and I think that as a non-aligned state not only purchasing from one source such as the US is also smart.
I agree, and that is why they have American and French figters. F-16 and Mirage 2000

There is nothing to say that they might only fight Iran or Syria in the future, what if there was ever a conflict with Saudi Arabia
with all of their modern gear with the US backing the Saudis?
There is almost no chance of this happining, and even if it does and the US supports the S. Arabians, then UAE has no chance, with or without the Rafales.

Being able to trade the Mirages for the Rafales sounds like a pretty sweet deal and is probably why they don't seem to be seriously considering competitors such as the Typhoon and the Gripen.
So you think this is all about trading in the Mirages for the Rafales, and has nothing to do with politics?

Look I don't care what the UAE does with their money, and I also do not care if they buy the Rafale, the Typhoon or the Gripen, but I do not want people to say that UAE bought the Rafale so it must be good. This move, if it does happen, is all political to me, now there is nothin wrong with that, and I would of said the same thing if the Typhoon or the Gripen were in its place. Now I never said the South Korean and Singapore deals were not political deals as well, they probably were, but where I have a problem is when BW says that the Rafale was chosen as the best plane from the group, and has no proof to back it up. I have said that not all deals are done with only capabilites being taken into acount, no matter the country. The difference in the Asian deals and the one in UAE is that at least there was competition in Korea and Singapore, and there is non in UAE. Now I'm not saying that the Rafale can not meet the demands of the UAE, because it can, and yes, the Rafale is an upgrade from the Mirage 2000's, and I'm not saying the UAE should buy American either. What I'm saying is that there is no need for a new fighter in the near future for the UAE. Their Air Force is alreday the most modern in the region, and it only trails Israel when it comes to being the most powerful and capable.

Oh, you are "checking" huh?

That is really great news!  I will sleep better tonight knowing that an ignorant fanboy, and a liar at that, is "checking" what I just proved.

Give it up.

Anything that helps France pay for upgrades for it's aircraft sounds like good news.  Sounds like UAE also gets a few reactors to help with a nuclear program in response to Iran.

Sounds like UAE also gets a few reactors to help with a nuclear program in response to Iran.

And that is exactly why Israel cannot and is not going to allow Iran to go nuclear. Be it for energy or weapons. UAE will just be the first. All the rest will follow and Israel knows it and they also know THAT would surely be the end of the nation of Israel.

So Israel gets to decide who can have access to civilian nuclear energy production ? (emphasis on civilian). That's a little arrogant on their part.
