Captured Israeli pilots are a valuable asset potentially. Nonetheless it's my belief that the -31s will be lightly armed, if at all, because the Syrians will employ them as mini-awacs instead of as interceptors. The a/c harbors an improved and very powerful agile radar plus data links for ground relay. Israel has the goods on the Syrian IAD and mobile sensors, but a pair of -31s cruising about with dash escape ability combined with clever operation could multiply the effects of the other defense elements. These birds will carry extra fuel and specialty equipment IMHO - not a lot of missiles. 0.02
