Anyone know anything about the F-15 Silent Eagle unveiled by Boeing today?

"Silent Eagle's frontal RCS is indeed comparable to export grade F-35, especially if the radar blocker can be cleared for export. This is according to Korean DoD official who was briefed on both for F-X3 competition. F-35 is better in bottom aspect. "

LOL, fanboy fight!

Nothing like watching two clueless idiots trying to educate each other about fighter jets.  (and no doubt how most of these fanboy theories originate...)

"But the stealth level offered by both are considered to be useless in East Asia, as it will not be able to dodge Japanese and Korean radars. F-35's stealth is basically for countries like Iran and North Korea, not for the likes of Russia and China."

Sure thing kid... Clearly the JSF program participants, including most of the world leaders in fighter aircraft and stealth design, are designing their next generation plane to deal with Iran and North Korea.  (States that present no real challenge for existing 4th generation planes.)

I can only imagine how painful it must be for your teachers to grade your papers...

The US doesn't envision going to war with so called "advanced" countries. Let us recall so called "The Three Axis of Evil"; Iran, North Korea, and Iraq. Missile Defense is being built to stop Iranian and North Korean nuclear ballistic missiles heading toward the US and Israel, not for Russian missiles which Obama backed off. Likewise F-35 is being designed to fight war in 3rd world countries flying obsolete MIGs.

So F-35 may be good enough in its current for the US to do its intended job, it is not good enough for customers in high-tension region, such as East Asia where there is an arms race going on.

> States that present no real challenge for existing 4th generation planes.

This is why Robert Gates is killing F-22.

Enlighten you?

Go reread some threads truck driver.

I have spent more than enough time trying to enlighten you but you would rather look like an idiot typing up sci-fi fantasies about your favorite plane than know what you are talking about.

@ Bluewings12

> you actually affirm (with which proof ?) that the so called Silent Eagle has a 0.025 square meter RCS (like the F-35 suppose to have) ???

Silent Eagle can match export grade F-35's frontal RCS if RAM coating and radar blocker can be cleared for installation by US State Department according to Boeing's briefing.

Getting the clearance for radar blocker is said to be the biggest issue of Silent Eagle.

LMAO, the fact that you two are running as a bill and ben tag team makes my day.

welcome to a lesson in EM LO mgt....

Yeah, I don't really need to bother responding to this.

Enjoy your slap-fight kids.

Rufus , you are a troll .

SlowMan :
""Silent Eagle can match export grade F-35's frontal RCS if RAM coating and radar blocker""

Dream on (sorry) . SlowMan , you should know better than that ;-)
You can 't RAM the entire F-15 and if you don 't , the airframe itself (body and wings) will still react like 70's airframe .
You do know about "honeycombs" shapes inside the airframe designed to trap the radar waves (EM emissions) , do you ?
You also know (I hope) about EM "see through' materials like some kevlars and polymers (Who behaves very differently than steel and aluminium against radar waves) ?
Etc ...
You just cannot expect an aircraft like the F-15 , even with some work done on it , to archive a LO signature .
You just can 't . Hiding the fan blades with some kind of "radar blocker" (?) is going to change the airflow to start with the known repercussions , then you would have done only 30% of the work you need to do .
And last but not least , what is the maximum load than the F-15 can hide ? I don 't wanna see anything under the wings .

(Ouch)

Cheers .

gf , could you explain to me (from your table) why that the F-15 has a four hundred and five square meter RCS (!!!) and the F-22 has an RCS only 5 times bigger than a common fly ???

Where do you get you rubbish , mate ?

Cheers .

I find myself on BW's side in this.  I would think that the Silent Eagle drops RCS some, but it's still going to be bigger on a radar scope than a F-22 or a F-35.  The F-15 was never designed to be stealthy.  The F-22/F-35 are.  It would be akin to coating a brick with radar-absorbing paint and declaring that "stealthy."  I'm not sold on active ECM either; those emissions can be detected, even if it is a pain in the ass to burn through all that jamming.  The Silent Eagle is at best a poor man's F-22; at worst it's a marketing ploy by Boeing.

If the Silent Eagle is so damn stealthy, why aren't the Japanese lining up to buy them?  You yourself said, SlowMan, that the Japanese are pissed because we won't sell them the F-35 and the means to build a F-35J.  Sounds to me like Silent Eagle would be a great replacement for the old F-4, and best of all, they could produce it (they already assemble their F-15s) and they wouldn't have to retrain pilots to fly it (since they have a huge fleet of F-15s already).  But the Japanese aren't buying it.  They want the F-35--and they really want the F-22.

Speaking of which, the F-35's designed to take on Iran and North Korea?  Put down the bong, SlowMan.  It's designed to blow the hell out of any enemy of the US, whether it be low-tech Norks or high-tech PLAAF.  If it was intended only to take on second or third-tier air forces, we wouldn't need it--we'd just crank out a few thousand more F-16s and Super Bugs and call it even.  Matter of fact, second and third-tier air forces are all that Gates seems to think we'll ever be facing for the next 50 years, apparently forgetting the lessons of history.
