Exports have all to do with political choices and economical pressures , welcome to reality ;)

Even Mirage 2000-5 is better than F-16 in air-to-air , ask the Indian Air Force or Greek pilots ... or simply , ask an expert , only latest block 60 F-16 compares with latest Mirages ..

Rafale won every single real exercise with other Air Forces it was tested in .. and will considerably evolve ..

It's simply the best multirole fighter, twice the range of Eurofighter , will have better radar soon, and have more advanced EOS sensors, will carry METEOR of MDBA,MICA IR (improved) OSF mk2,relative stealth, small profile hard to detect, can carry nukes, attack ships,is navalized and perfect for long penetration missions , great in ground attack role, great acceleration ,manoeuvrability .Can't wait for the F4 and F5 version

Almost literally a maritime Rafale.

Quick question on the 1st video:  Why are the cockpit displays written in English?

I am partial to most of the 5th Gen Birds.

Typhoon, Rafale, Raptor, Gripen, the MiGs havent changed much but they still look good.

All of these fighters just look....deadly in an elegant sort of way.

The comment about "winning exercises" I will take issue with.  You dont "Win" an exercise.  There are rules in place that generally favor one side to give the other side a challenge and a chance to learn.  Its a learning experience not a pissing contest.

From the advantage of the video being able to view the Rafale in all angles, it does strike me that the aircraft looks very much like the Eurofighter Typhoon with F18 like forward air intakes. Still looks good though. The landing on the aircraft carrier is what most impressed me. The canards would make it turn better than the F18. Not too sure on the performance and speed.

Seems as though the Rafale's onboard computers OS run in English?? And that it manged to destroy a Mig 29 and a Su 30 Flanker??? If only it could strike those 2 aircraft in the commercial success department. Perhaps there is another video for appropriate French middle eastern customers, whereby the video would show the destruction of an F18 and F15?

On looks alone among the 3 carrier aircraft featured, for the Miss Marine Fighter Universe (so that bars the eurofighter, F22, F15 and the like) Miss USA F18, Miss France Rafale and the Miss Russia navalized Su 30. Miss USA looks like a stout short bug, so she is out. :) Miss France comes in a close second, but the F18 bug intakes just spoil her lines, so the winner goes to the long legged asymertical beauty Miss Russia an improved version of the original beauty the F15.

Not impressed at all. The plane took forever to trap. What makes you think it can outturn a Hornet?

The intercuts you saw were clumsy video inserts of Russian  planes flying followed by a poor burst FX. No RAFALE HAS splashed a Russian plane EVER.

F-22 is a landbased plane, F-15 is a landbased plane. Nothing is more beautifukl than what works excellently. Rafale is so fa;r fantasy. The Hornet WORKS.

Ofcourse I know that, thats why I made a dig at the Rafle's real world commercial success against those 2 aircraft, if the Rafale really did spalsh migs and flankers, it would be an international incident made known and the Dassault marketing + salesmen will be jumping up and down to flog the Rafale as mig and flanker killers.

Hi
Herald,
They all do work, each with a different set of advantages and disadvantages, yes I concede the F15 is a land fighter, but I mean't the flanker looked like an even curvier and more defined version of the square cut delta winged eagle.

Recently I just saw a program about the Marine AV8B, it does work but its attrition rate is such, that the experts are asking if it is even required at all when say the F16 or F18s can do the same job of striking the same targets safer and cheaper. No mention of how such planes would take off a Marine carrier.  On the matter of the Rafale being a navalized aircraft, it is interesting to note that the trend is now back for multi role fighters that can equip not only the airforce but the navy. Till now I wonder how in the past a Mcdonald Douglas F4 Phantom can land on an aircraft carrier but an F15 or F14 could not be adopted for the interservice use. Now the trend has gone back again.

Oh yeah, when I mean't beauty, I believe my definition is like those of the other posters, we meant aesthetic beauty.

Other effective aircraft that WORK very well like the A-10 are affectionally named "warthogs" not only because of their looks but also because the pilots still have an affection for them. Also there was the P47 jug etc..

In the world of aircraft that WORK, there are beauties and non beauties.
see

For beauties :
Supermarine Spitfire
Mustang
Cosair
Lightning

Non beauties :
Messaschimts BF- 109 with german legs
P-47 "Jug"
Polikarpov "Rata"

And ofcourse there is the most workable but affectionately called "ugly" BUFF. Big Ugly Fat Fellow B-52.

The Sukhoi 27+ series is a victim of incompetent [exception Indians] customer handling and inept Russian marketing. I actually regard it as a very fine aircraft. It serves as the basis of many good variants. I hate to see the day coming when somebody competent flies that plane against us or our allies in numbers. Despite the fanboys and the hype, the real world facts about the Flanker and her variants are frightening effective enough without the hype.

The F-4 was overbuilt as was the F-14. You can't navalize the F-15 or the F-16 without a complete rebuild. Just the added mass in the upgraded landing gear would be prohibitive and degrade carriage, lift and maneuverability qualities.
