Subject: B1-B vs Tu-160

Which is the better strategic bomber? I think I would have to vote for Tu-160 on account of its speed - in other areas they seem to be comparable.

"Both the B1A and the B1B have a larger RCS than the Blackjac" I have not found any information on this. And I doubt that the Tu-160 has a smaller RCS than the B-1B. To control the airflow into and engine so the compressor doesn't stall at supersonic speeds you need a variable inlet. These by design are very unstealthy so I have a hard time believing that a high-speed super sonic blackjack could be as stealthy as a B-1B low speed bomber.

I got the info out of "World Aircraft Information Files" the variable inlet isn't as non-stealthy as it should be because of the jagged shape. the fuselage is also less curved than that of the Lancer, making for a reduced RCS. I didn't say the Blackjack was "stealthy", certainly it doesn't even approach the RCS of the F-117 and B-2, but it does have better LO properties than either models of the B-1.

That is very interesting - I never even suspected that Tu-160 has any LO properties at all.
