To be clear the Viggen was the best aircraft for few years before F15 came to service : much more manoeuvrable than a F4 with a better rate of climb, and a sophisticated weapon system.Even after F16 entered service, JA37 with its radar similar in performance with F18 radat was much more better in BVR.
