Subject: RE:Should the F-117 be used as a recognizance airplane?

"Now that we are intensively spying on both North Korea, and more importantly, Iran would it be useful to make the Nighthawk in to a reconnaissance airplane. The Nighthawk would need minimal modifications for this role, for example one of the weapons bays could have an internal Third generation Infrared Camera with a 360 degree field of view." //Wouldn't a infrared viewer see it if it went into active mode? That and the Serbs have a strange mechanism for detection. I think it was something with cell phone towers and if the signal was completely lost between two points, a stealth fighter was nullifying. Or something like that. "And the other weapons bay could have either fuel or a laser guided bomb in case a high priority target is located. The F-117 Nighthawk would be limited to night missions only unless the repaint the airplane gray and operates at a much higher altitude to avoid visual detection" //There were some tests of the Nighthawk based on gray or 'ground color' camoflauge. Might work.
