Grandmother who objected to gay march is accused of hate crime

By Andrew Levy
Last updated at 8:10 AM on 26th October 2009

After witnessing a gay pride march, committed Christian Pauline Howe wrote to the council to complain that the event had been allowed to go ahead.

But instead of a simple acknowledgement, she received a letter warning her she might be guilty of a hate crime and that the matter had been passed to police.

Two officers later turned up at the frightened grandmother's home and lectured her about her choice of words before telling her she would not be prosecuted.

So she tried to have the freedom of expression of others curbed but then had it happen to her in return. What goes around comes around apparently.

Don't find that sort of obscenity during spring break around my town. Apparently, rich, young, white college kids go to remote vacation spots to enjoy their lives, while we poor students go to find some part time jobs while preparing for MCAT or LSAT. That's exact the same kind of crap MFM push to become social norm.

Oh, BTW, I didn't know that you can't differ between wearing bikini on the beach and nudity to express sexuality on purpose.

If you think it's Asian thing that is against blatant normalization of perversion, you are wrong.

You really are a sad-act, aren't you YelliChink.
It's bad enough that you swallow the meaningless tripe dished out by the Daily Mail without question, but that you then take the time to post it incessantly on a messageboard is worse. The real cherry on the cake is that you aren't even British.

So why do you do it?

Troll?

And you just revealed how tolerant you are by denouncing a major UK news paper. Basically what you are saying is that I shouldn't believe anything from second largest news paper by circulation. Yeah, right.

The Daily mail tends to Skew facts to the right.

yes the woman has a right to protest and it doesnt make you a bigot not to want these parades (i find the whole thing irritating) but the content of the womans letter wasnt just a complaint (and a as far as im concerned legal request that future parades be stopped. Its a democracy every one is allowed an opinion.) This woman however judjing from escerpts printed elswhere basicaly called them evil and a crime against god -stopping just short of calling for them to be burnt at the stake. Her letter was judged offinsive hence the reprimand.

Im not sure it was a police matter myself though

Yes. I denounce the Daily Mail. While the news they report is sufficiently factual that they couldn't be held to account on that respect (and note that I do not) the selective reporting and opinion they build into the stories. Their living is selling accounts of outrage, even when not warranted, which you have fallen for hook, line and sinker.

So why do you do it?

Are you a troll?

All media do selective reporting, not necessarily because they are bias, which usually they do, but because the editorial boards all have limited space to squeeze in. And tell me that no other news paper have opinions built into their stories. In the end, the reporting and writing style decides which class reads what. For an elitist minded person, he despises tabloid type news paper. The masses know what they want and they stand for, that's why Daily Mail sell better.

As for the outrage, this new is outrageous. And you are indeed trolling when you can't debunk the outrageousness, but rather choose to silence other voice by ad hominem attack and trashing the credibility of the source.

This isn't and shouldn't be a police matter from the beginning. This is just one old lady who has too much emotion on that issue, and when is holding an opinion, which I think is valid to certain degree, a discrimination and hate crime that require politicians to send police to intimidate?

Yes, I do believe public display of obscenity needs to be stopped. On the other news, it takes somewhat more moderate Muslims to stop extremist Islamist march in London. Not AFL, as they are too busy counter protesting always laughable English Nazis; not Torries; not Labours. You have no freedom of speech when you dare not speak freely.

First you describe what goes on at Spring Break (and presumably Mardi Gras and Carnivale as well, as they are the other events that I posted) as "obscenity", then you imply "oh, but its not nearly as bad as what those gay people do".

Then you play the asian race card (ironically politically correct don't you think) against me when I hadn't mentioned anything about your race.

You really are a confused little bigot aren't you.

Oh, that's why Brazilian government is cracking down on public nudity during Carnival FOR YEARS. Also, you should learn more about Mardi Gras to ORDINARY PEOPLE before you post:

 A Family Affair
Many Americans associate Mardi Gras with drunken debauchery and women baring their breasts for cheap colored beads. But most of the season's celebrations take place outside of the raucous French Quarter, in family-filled neighborhoods such as the tree-lined Garden District. There, parents and kids await daytime parades, many utilizing modified ladders with seats on top. There, children are ideally positioned to catch beads and other "throws" — plastic coins, stuffed animals, cups, Frisbees, etc. — from passing floats. During Carnival season, tree branches along popular parade routes are often covered with hanging sets of gaudily colored beads.

Filthy display of obscenity is filthy display of obscenity, and it should be judged as filthy display of obscenity. Those gay parades are filthy display of obscenity in public, and that's what it should be judged if they continue their action in this way. It doesn't matter that it's in Carnival in certain Latin American country or by certain luciferous groups during Mardi Gras. They are all filthy display of obscenity. How much boobs and buns are you going to see until you had enough? If you can't have enough, you need to stop taking prozac.

BTW, I am pulling the class warfare card, not race card. Because I can't afford to have a vacation to Mardi Gras, Carnival or Spring Break to see some boobs. None of the working class people I know ever go there. It's always the rich type who came back and tell girls how awesome that was. All I have is a bunch of nude gays parading in my front yard that make me want to puke. I AM PISSED! I AM SO FREAKING PISSED!

Yellichink: I really don't care too much about some spiteful old lady. I want to know why you repeatedly spam this forum with copy-paste diatribes from a newspaper that has an obvious agenda to incite outrage over the most trivial instances, from a country several thousand miles from your own.

To use the argument that the Mail is popular and hence right lends credence to such nonsenses that several thousand people can't be wrong, and the logical continuation that all manner of frightful political and religious ideologies must likewise be correct, simply by the mass of their support.

So, I ask again. Why do you do this?

Poor Yelli, you are not getting to see any boobies (I suspect in public or in private .... because you doesn't have any money and spend too much time bitching on internet forums) so you takes it out on the nasty fags running up your street in their Y-Fronts. Never mind, you can always attend this event in your home town next year to get some relief from your sad state of deprival.
