Subject: Obama's Disrespect
Jimme    3/14/2009 2:12:11 AM
I would personally like to apologize for the way our new President has treaty our closes ally. It fills me with disgust at the way the new administration is handling relations with the UK. To the point that they are even suggesting that there is no special relationship and that the UK is "just another nation".

I would like to know how you guys feel about it and what you think should be done to correct this diplomatic blunder.

Now, this is just another change we can't believe in! Bah... My pet rock can handle diplomacy better than Obama's administration.

Yeah, I must have missed this as well!!!  Are we talking about the little "faux pas" regarding the disparity in the gifts exchanged during PM Browns visit?  Yeah OK, a DVD set versus a pen holder made from the timbers of the sister ship to the one the desk in the oval office is made of means someone in the "Protocol Dept" frakked up.  But thats it.  To consider it a "Studied" insult is going a bit far.

Amazingly I can no longer find anything on this story, here are the only 2 references i can still find, all i now see are the Obama flip flops about "how special the U.K. is to the US" now.

I don't think it means anything but perhaps a little more thought wouldn't have gone a miss when your trying to rally allies to increase troop no.s in a-stan and you a buy a dvd boxset for the largest troop contributor outside the US. Although i'm not the biggest Brown fan I agree with Herald above. Obama is a good talker but I'm yet to be convinced that he has real substance.

First we had the DVD collection for the PM...

Then we had the Ipod for the Queen...

Which leads one to wonder if the White House staff gets all its gifts from Kmart.

Still - the Brits are the not only ones laughing at Obama.  We had the "reset" button for the Russian Foreign Minsiter - which actually translated to "overchage".  Better to give him a Staples button - at least he could have gotten some free office supplies.

Then there was the State Dept. conference call for all reporters covering the Obama Euro tour - where all the foreign reporters were given the wrong number to call - a pay by the minute sex line.

Sad... very sad.
