Subject: Ted Nugent and the French
smitty237    12/18/2006 1:07:37 PM
Ted Nugent, a heavy metal guitar legend and devoted (bow) hunter, was being interviewed by a French journalist. Eventually, the conversation turned to his love of outdoor pursuits. The journalist asked, "What do you think the last thought is in the head of a deer before you shoot it? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or maybe 'Are you the one who killed my brother?'" Nugent replied, "They aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next? Who am I going to screw next?' and, 'Can I run fast enough to get away?' They are very much like the French..."

In any case I'm not a big fan of France, especially after 2003, and I do not buy anything made in France but facts are facts.
I don't understand how you can say something like that 7 years after GW2.
Do you honnestly believe it was a good thing to go in Iraq?
If I remember well (I lived in the US back then and I took a lot of crap from americans), the U.S went to war in Iraq to find and destroy "weapons of mass destruction" and beacause Saddam was supposedly helping AlQuaida - LOL- (that was the official reason at least).
We all know today that was pure BS. How can you hold a grudge against the French for not joining the U.S in this dirty war for the reasons stated above?

Tens of millions of Americans will never forgive France and will raise their children to never forgive France.  Once it became clear the US was going in no matter what the continued obstruction crossed the line.  Chirac made himself look good to some at the expense of getting a lot of people killed.  Without France leading the opposition Turkey would not have balked and the history of the conflict would have been rather different.

The US invaded Iraq after 911 because Afghanistan was not enough to prove the point that you don't fuck with Uncle Sam and however cowboy and simplistic that sounds to anyone it's still reality.  Saddam and WMC was a pretext around a nation that was convenient for the US to invade to prove a point.

Nobody holds a grudge for France not joining in.  It was the active obstruction that made it all more difficult, that continues to this day, that millions of us remember.  You want 10 short term points for being "right" fine I'll give you 20; however, you lose 1,000 long term points for absolute lack of honor.

Don't feel bad.  Most American's probably already have forgotten about it.  It's only a small minority that will remember.

Absolute lack of honor ??  Active obstruction ??

Remind me who showed up at the U.N with a tube full of flour, telling the world it was Iraqi anthrax ??!!
Funny to speak about "lack of honor" and "active obstruction" when the U.S preposterously lied to the world.
I consider disrespecting the U.N, especially when the U.S government back in 1956 stated that a war started without the UN's approval is illegal,  a lack of honor and active brainwashing.

You obvisouly don't consider France an ally, and it saddens me to see that there are more samourai rednecks like you back in the U.S.

Thank you for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts for our contestants.

France led the opposition to the war in 2003.  This is a historical fact.

Try "France opposition iraq" and note 3.5 million hits.

Chirac and most of France seemed very proud in 2003.

You want to discuss 1956, or 1986 for that matter, that's another subject(s).

France does not have allies merely interests.

Well its a joke. Most of the jokes about russians has sth to do with vodka..but it doesnt mean that all russians are alcoholics. Most jokes about french has sth to do with surredering but it doesn't mean....u get the point it's a joke.

About french fronts. They did what they were designed to do-prevented germans from taking shorter road to Paris.
The french had shortage in manpower- forts helped them to free real soldiers. Many of the fort could have been manned by skeleton  crews made out of reservists which wouldnt have stood a chance on the open field.
It's more about French organisation, leadership and industry that failed.

1) Try "weapons of mass destruction" and hit "im feeling lucky"

2) I wouldn't say that. Friends sometimes disagree, you just have to accept it.
My best friend supports a different football club than me, we still speak to eachother...(yes, the comparison between a football match and the iraq war is a little absurd, but you get the point)
