Stealthy Black Hawk doomed by vortex and high walls:
link

although the primary team numbers, aircraft numbers and type involved details are now starting to resemble the logistics issues I raised earlier, the accident itself is still not making sense.

My coworkers had mentioned to me the day after it happened that they heard it was settling with power. It is plausible with a 15 degree temperature change and a 12 man chalk if they were coming in hot and "whoa boy" their way in. It would have generated a vortex ring state and caused settling with power.

 This is settling with power.

It would have generated a vortex ring state and caused settling with power.
I know what settling with power is and am familiar with aspects of this..  My curiosity is piqued due to the fact that the media noise has been about walls and temperature,
they're been practicing in a purpose built facsimile site for months and months, part of the training for assisting assaulters would have included condition events. ambient conditions are known so its not going to be a "surprise"
again, I think part of the puzzle is missing (and I'm not really trying to draw it out as beyond being successful, the rest is academic.)
as I prev stated with the team numbers initially provided, force disposition and the loggies issues, this also does not gel with what I'd expect.  There's another vector missing ...
but, its academic, and all I care about ultimately is "job well done"

It makes sense when I work it through my head. Closed in walls that are high would cause the downward air flow to be pushed back up through the rotor system and help aggregate the vortex ring state. As for the higher temperatures, that would cause the rotor system to use more engine power. If the pilot was not ready for that demand to be placed on the rotor system, he might have pulled on the collective and caused the situation to occur.

Even if he didn't, having that much of a temperature change would have required a lot more torque since those 60s were carrying 12 man teams. Being that hot and heavy only makes settling with power more likely to occur.

also these weren't dap conversions, it looks like they were armed with dillons.

the body mods are adding additonal weight, add in 12 man teams, add in the dillon gunners.

a normal section loadout for a BH is 10, full packed, so  12 means light and in and out.

they're still operating within safety margins though...

AHOY,

ESMOORE5; From your link Pakistan; were not in cohorts with al-qaeda.

The Times reported that the name appeared spelled incorrectly but was in a close approximation to a phonetic spelling in a Saturday edition of The Nation, a conservative daily newspaper seen as supportive of the ISI. The ISI often plants stories in the Pakistani media, according to The Times, and is known to keep some journalists on its payroll.

from Time article i.e. link from the first link;

The name that appeared in print was misspelled but close enough to send a clear signal, the officials said. Similarly, last December, the cover of the station chief at the time was deliberately revealed by the ISI, again by a close approximation of the name, American officials said. As a result, he was forced to leave the country.

Newjarheaddean; notice how the sheephood, (thats hood not hard my new term for the U.S. population in general) dose not get the miss spelled name released to I.D. this station chief. Yet lots of readers in Pakistan and or lots of people who know someone who reads in Pakistan, knows the name.

Just like the UBL tapes not only being realest over seas but sold at markets, yet all the sheephood gets are heavily edited news clips if anything. Thats unless you go through some really esoteric highly traceable methods of researching it all.

Why are we shooting missiles at Anwar al-awlaki in Yemen? What no SEAL team six with a fleet of stealth helos, Prepositioned in Saudi desert to go get him and other HVTs.

IMO al- awlaki is the new generation of CIA spy. And the strikes and all the media coverage are to build his reputation.

If he wanted to do the U.S. so much damage why not start right there in New Mexico LOL, but no he goes to Yemen to join the thousands of other clerics. What can he teach them?

Going to Yemen to start your own terror group would be like going to Tijuana Mexico to start your own drug gang. Because your charismatic and know a lot about growing it. LOL.

"I well bet my lucky star" IKYG

G-day!
