It's increasingly popular.  Lets you get to your pistol when seated in a vehicle and such, which leg rigs are very bad for, and various manufacturers here in the US are now making chest rigs of one sort of another.  I kind of like the Safariland set up, I think (haven't really put it through its paces yet) that is modular and lets you easily (zero tools) swap your 6004 or other holster from a leg rig to your body armor and back as needed.

I like that set up alot, very cool. It could definitely help alot when in a vehicle like you mention, and I could also see how it could make transitions much faster as well since the pistol is higher.  Im taking FP some time this summer, I wonder if i'll see any military/leo's running that setup there. I'll ask some of those fella's about it.

You pimpin' any of John Willis' gear at the moment HS?

Multi-cam seems to be increasingly popular. I was pretty impressed with some of it myself. Suprised to see an ACU in the mix as well.

If you get a chance, also look into some of Larry Vickers' classes he does up in South Hill, VA (and elsewhere).  Really good stuff from an extremely qualified instructor.
The main thing Willis/SOE Gear does that I really like is their detachable blow-out/medical pouches.  Great piece of kit.  I've also got one of his single point slings, but for a full size carbine or even an SMG, I really prefer an adjustable two point sling, like the Vickers or Viking Tactical.  (But on an MP5K, single points are super cool, and I'm pretty sure I could win any gun fight in a phone booth with that rig.)

Multicam is great stuff, and actually works well in a range of environments.
I can't imagine running around in a pair of ACUs unless one has the misfortune, like me, of being contractually obligated to do so.  The pattern sucks, the fabric sucks, and the durability is appalling.  Think I've been through four pairs of pants in the last couple years just doing routine training kind of stuff.  Stitching rips out with any kind of even modest stress.

Definitely not trying to hijack the thread, my apologies...

Yeah, I definitely wanna go to one of Vickers classes...probably his AK course. Have you taken it yet? If so, would you recommend his AK course or Suarez's? Im supposed to be going to Suarez Internationals Kalishinikov Rifle Gunfighting in October most likely, which I believe is taught by Sonny P. But I have heard (from you also) his course is pretty basic (not taking anything away, he is an awesome instructor no doubt), especially after FR. Im sure I could learn a heck of alot from both courses...so the answer is probably gonna be "Take both".
Yeah, he has some awesome detachable medical pouches...but they are pricey... to pricey for me. Im rocking one of his single points also, really makes transitions fast for me. Don't have alot of experience with a 2 point though, might try one soon though. I may take AFR after the AK courses and FP, so I may run one through there then.

I'll PM you a AAR on Vicker's AK class to avoid total thread derailment, but long story short definitely worth going to, even before taking into account the chance to shoot a WW2-vintage Sturmgewehr-44, which was just ridiculously cool.
For Suarez's class, you're probably best off with a standard Russian/Warsaw Pact sling, since he teaches what I'd call the Russian method/style, which is kind of different.  I can probably loan you a Polish AK sling (or an adjustable two point, for other classes), depending on the timeframe (will be OCONUS starting in January).
