Who knows. Any open source information you can find on the subject is probably suspect. I'd recommend reading Sean Naylor's "Not a Good Day to Die: The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda" which does not discuss training at all, but provides operational information that may prompt you to make a decision on the question . . .

Why do you keep resurrecting every old SEAL thread, if your a SEAL WTF do you care, and if your not, why should anyone else?

The books say that anyone can try out for Delta, from the Army...

But only SEALs try out for DEVGRU! Therefore,SEALs have a better unit!

question for you pal, if you were a SEAL, why the need to refer to what books say about D boy selection? shouldn't you just know? furthermore, unless times have changed since I "knew", it was a bit more difficult than just "anyone" from the army deciding they wished to run the course.

I highly doubt a SEAL would comment on DEVGRU, much less say they are a better unit than SFOD-D.

Reshtet has made this place suck lately. Every old thread has been commented on, and alot of people have been called out. You should be hit with banhammer, dude.

I typed to quickly here! I was ARMY but National Guard and no one speaks of Delta!

Nor do everyday Sailors speak of DEVGRU!Therefore you aren't Navy or ARMY...

What are you talking about?, if you mean standing around shooting the shit about them, yeah they don't but to say no one mentions them is factually incorrect, they have a roadshow that run's through Army post's every year trying to interest guy's to try out, there are invitation's to try out in various military publication's just before each selection cadre.

they may be secretive, but they are not a black hole.

Im gonna have to vouch for reshtet on this one guys. you guys are being pretty cruel, who cares if he was a SEAL or not, he can comment on anything he feels an urge to comment on, and im kind glad someone showed up to agree with some things(and disagree) on here, it balances things out. and who cares if hes right or wrong, it is his opinion. as for the question i wouldnt know who is better because i am only 15 years old and havnt beem in those organizations, but id have to say DEVGRU, since i know their capabilities and achievements in the books ive read. as for SFOD-D i dont know ANYTHING about them, only heard of them and i dont even know what they do,who they are etc.

Nope! You are refering to the"Golden Knights." Or the ARMY's parachute demo TEAM!

I'd take that as ironic sarcasm, but since American's don't have that particular gene.................

You could just hit him with a regular hammer.  That would be cool too.

It's got nothing to do with him commenting on everything - he can do what he likes.  what people object to is about those who pretend to know things about units and capabilities which they clearly don't know anything about (and even quoting from books is a risky path).

there are people in here who do have first hand knowledge, and they they tend to get sick and tired of the pretenders. it's disrespectful as an adult, it's a lack of maturity if not an adult.

GOP (sorry to single you out, but you did so already earlier!) has already acknowledged that he wished he hadn't blown off so much as a 15 year old - well 3 years later he's older, somewhat wiser and somewhat pretty embarassed about how he used to rush in like a freight train - but he was 15 at the time. Schitt happens.

In Reshtets case his pattern and style of response indicates that he's a kid (we were all kids once, so that's hardly a crime) - but his style of engagement makes him look like an absolute WalterM.  He can protest about his alleged background as much as he likes, - but style and grammar usage tend to be dead giveaways.  That's compounded by the fact that he's posted info that has at times been clearly wrong.

If you pretend you get caught, and there are enough people in here with experience in these disciplines to know when a pretender walked into the room.
