Styg,

Where the hell you been?  Big Rick and I have been calling Columbus Ohio for 15 years trying to find you.  Rock and Roll.  I am 25 miles north of Columbus Georgia and have been for 2.5 years.  I will email your address and tell Rick tonight.  He is in Oklahoma.  Too much to talk about right now.  I'll holler.  I have just missed Sawyer the last month but am still trying to contact him.  He is in Virginia somewhere.  Some D Bat guys and Bravo Co. guys I have talked with through the last few years.  It's good to hear from you.  I am sending an email to this address [email protected].  This is a good website for 09ers.  Wonder where Kwan is.  I looked for him when I was in Seattle a couple years ago.  No luck.  Loveless is somewhere in Tenn. I think.  Looked for him in Tenn. last couple years.  My brother John is in Knoxville.  Later.  Check your email.  Caudle.

I was there--my first duty assignment after Jump School was A Co 1/509th ABCT.  Never had a better assignment until I retired in 1999!  Remember the North 40, downtown Vicenza, and driving my Fiat up and down the steps at the Piazza d'el Signora with Sgt Charlie Brown puking out the back window.  Spent a lot of time horizontal and sick at the beach near Venice as well.

Earned my EIB that year, and we jumped into DZ Snow for winter training in the Alps.  Also got Humanitarian Service Medal for ten days in the mountains around Naples after the Thanksgiving 1980 earthquakes.

I'm Rosanna McFarlin, widow of Roger L. McFarlin who I met  in 1973 at  Vicenza, Caserma Ederle, Italy,   while active duty with the 509 I believe CO B. While there he was assigned temporarily  to the MP . He attended the Boston University  at the Base and graduated obtaining a Master in Social Study. We got married in Vicenza in 1975 .  We were transfered on PCS orders  in 1977. Did you know him? He passed away 3 years ago at only 60. I still mourning him and I miss him very much. Any information will be appreciated.  Thank you . Rosanna McFarlin.

Hey everyone, I'm Chuck McFalls. I was in the 09 1982 - 1984, B Co. 3rd Platoon, weapons sqd. All those names bring back lots of memories. Fred Snyder, Tim Scott, SFC Delph, Murph Steen. I'd like to get in touch with any old buds. I would love to catch up and see what everyone has been up to. (09 On Line)

Caudill,

Dude...we're all on Facebook. We've given up on e-mail and now over 116 (09ers) have consolidated on FB: 1/509th ABCT Vicenza, Italy 1981-1985

You need to create a Facebook account and get in touch with most of us. Of course, none of the officers are there. They prefer to maintain that sense of social distance that they were indoctrinated with upon entering the army.  But most of the nco's and enlisted are chuted up.

E-mail if you have any questions: [email protected]
