A lot of people are quick to say that the Israeli special forces are superior to the special forces of any other country, but comparing Israel SF to American SF (or the British SAS) is like comparing apples to....say.......pears. No doubt the Israelis field the best SF troops in the Middle East, but American Special Forces and British SAS troops have to train for missions all over the world. How well would the Israelis do on a jungle rescue mission in Colombia, or perhaps Antarctica? Are they trained to take out terrorist camps in the Balkans or Indonesia? I doubt it. When we compare armies we need to do it in the proper context.

When we compare armies we need to do it in the proper context<< actually yes they are, but to back up a bit, I never said "better" but on the top tier of SOF around the World there is not a vast difference in abilities, men who qualify for such unit's are similar all over, now back to topic, the Israeli's don't just train for arid/desert warfare, they also do extensive mountain warfare training, yes Israel has mountain's with snow, they also do similar training in Italy, they have also been known to go to Brazil and now India for tropical and jungle warfare training, because of the standing order's to be able to go any where Israel's interest's or people are threatened, btw the correct comparison in the US to the SAS would be SFOD-D not the SF's, who as good as they are are not trained to the same level ;)

I have to say that most all SOF units are equal around the world, except when it comes to 3 units (in no particular order): The SAS SFOD-D Israeli SF
