An American defense contractor employed by Lockheed has been kidnapped in Saudi Arabia. The kidnapper's excuse for threatening to abuse him, apart from the Abu Ghraib scandal, is that Lockheed is involved in upgrading the Apache, which in the terrorist's words is 'the helicopter that kills and displaces Muslims in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan'.

In reality, it means that Apaches are so excellent at wasting Hamas leaders in Gaza, Baathist and/or Zarqawi led insurgents in Iraq and AQT in Afghanistan that it actually gets named as a particular symbol of dread and hatred by the free world's worst enemies!!!

While I and anyone else against AQ want the contractor to escape unharmed (despite the low chances of that- see Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl)- isn't it one hell of an advertising endorsement when it comes from those who are at the receiving end of the product???

Helicopter of the Great Satan .....especially when the Hellfire missles are in use. Actually for all the damn money spent on those Apaches and Longbows, the Marines old Cobra`s have had just as much if not more success in terms of kills anyway.

whining about them in Afghanistan...tough they asked for it. As for the jews killing the palestineans with them and the U.S. using them to twist the arm of the Iraqi's fighting us makes us look bad because were the bad guys in this one.

Well, maybe this is a clever al Queda disinformation move then. Because it seems to me (as Savant implies) that teh Apache is a problem-plagued weapons system. But I will admit, this is the result of some fleeting impressions, not a solid analysis.
