Subject: Tanks also at risk from:
FJV    5/7/2008 2:23:54 PM
1- Shovels. All I'm saying is large deep holes with steep walls.
2- Deep quicksand. Always a disadvantage when fighting the Marsh Arabs
3- Huge rocks. An 80ton boulder on top of a tank will stop it moving.
4- Driving under the influence of alcohol.
5- Flipping over. (Not that crazy when you think about it)
6- Campaigning politicians. A campaigning politician driving on a tank completely ruins the intimidating factor that tank normally has.
7- The UN paint scheme. Painting a tank pink and nicknaming it "fluffy bunny" does not come even close to achieving the same effect.
8- Second hand smoke. It causes health problems for the tank crews.
9- Animal pests. Rodents and other pests always chew through the wiring on tanks. In Australia the pests also include poisonous frogs, crocodiles and snakes.

10- Idiot "Defence Analysts" from the ASPI who ignore years worth of evidence of the utility of the MBT and recommend something "lighter and more easily deployed", despite the fact that such a vehicle would be turned into scrap metal if it recieved any sort of decent hit.

11 - Lightning bolts, electric fences and electric ray's/eels (the latter during amphibious operations, especially in the Amazon) - these can be conducted through the metal and give the crew a shock.

You've left out the obvious. Roadrunners.

I've seen the training films, they are cunning buggers.

Was one of those pictures a Challenger II going through a toll booth?

And you have to feel sorry for the driver of the Scandinavian tank stuck in the marsh - the guy must have shat himself.
