What did SWAT teams (city, sheriff county and FBI, ATF) wear on their noggins before the ubiquitous PASGT helmet? Just balaclavas, ski masks? Don't think I ever saw them wearing the WW2 era steel helmet.

I think they wore motorcycle helmets, they did in NYC anyhow.
