The army is well in control and hasn't unleashed its might against the Taleban, once the Taleban threatens the Johnny Walker Scotch drinking hypocritical elite all hell will break loose. Remember Pakistan is nothing but a Moslem version of India. They just hide behind religion but are as bit corrupt as most elites anywhere. Sooner or later self preservation kicks in.

The Army is heavily recruited from the tribal areas as a form of political payoff.  Clan trumps religion and nation in that part of the world.  So, unless they have some reliable ethically separated units to use, calling the army in may just be pouring liquid oxygen on the fire, as loyalties cause units, and personnel within units, to turn on each other.

THe army is heavily recruitedfrom a state called Punjab not the tribal areas. And the reason the army is not attacking hard is there is no real need, they can remove the talebans at will, but US aid will go to, so whats the rush. US just tripled its aid. Business is good. Take another 25years lol.

One strategy used by rebells is to send young men off to the army with instructions to get trained and the go AWOL w/ their weapon.  A more useful strategy used to prevent rebellion is to draft young men prone to rebellion and give them limited weapons and training wile treating them (overtly or covertly) like prisoners.
