Pandemic inflation.

How many people must die to make a pandemic? Well thats the wrong question. Not how many but where determines the verbage. It reminds me of a historical study of old news papers on how many deaths constituted a masicure. Masicure makes you think of organized armed men of military age killing numurious people who were not prepaired to do battle. In the American Indian wars no number of dead indians ever rose to the level of a masicure. In one istance the killing of one white femail by indians was termed a masicure. It was how many but who that mattered.

How many malaria deaths constitue a pandemic? Malaria deaths never constitue a pandemic. How many flue deaths constitue a pandemic? If you give the flue a compelling name like "swine flue" and more people die than in most years by a noticable factor and it's a slow news day then it's a pandemic.

Consiter a posible agriculture project that could save 1,000 lives a year, most of them under 15 and prevent a larger number of develemental delays and stuntings due to malnutrician. Nice idea? No, the project will cause, we belive, between 100 and 200 cases of canser a year. The visible symptoms woun't start apearing for 15 years and will occure mostly in people over 30. We have fetishised cancer to the point that we will starve two children today to prevent one of them from getting cancer latter. Better living through cemistry but never more living through cemistry. Imposing it evenly against all risks would be absurd because we would need to stop doing everything and also not stop doing anything because every action holds some risk even when that action is inaction. But the precosairy princaple can be used selectivly to impose policy with out honest disclosure of motives. The apelit courts make policy!

The TARP moeny that comes back from the banks paying back loans or buying back stock may or may not go back before congress before it is reused. No difference really. What it means is that the O campain has the worlds biggest war chest in the history of democracy. Do you need some recruitment tools for young volenteers for your congressional campain, O's summer jobs program would like to cowardenate with you-if you a Dem.

How much meony was redistributed from bond holders to unions. Well, the supream court hasn't sighned off on it just yet. Goverment Moters had made what moeny it did make selling trucks and trucks(SUVs) in middle America and around the Great Lakes. They have decided with out being micromanaged by O that they are passing on that market and going after upscail urbanite costal dewellers. Red to blue baby. No one in team O has thought about that. They just want to save the polarbears. They also haven't thought about how many fewer job choices we will have when we can't drive to work. When we can't negotiate with employers by pitting many employers against each other we will need the goverment to step in and "protect" our wages with regulation. They also haven't thought about how private schools and mega churches will cope with the downward immobility of a carbon restrained life style. They might think (if they thought about such things) that people would quietly file back into public schools (who still have bussing??) and main line / religious left churches. Look for an explosion of home churches and home schooling. China though limeting meeting sizes to 25 people would retard religious activety. It had the oposite effect. Knee capping the Mega Churches by making long haul driving expencive is a back fire O can't avoid. Sams Club sells to costumers who drive SUV's and mini van long distances to shop. It's gona brake the unions hearts to see empty parking lots there. How do mega churches vote?

Way back in this thread I make a conection between Michel Obama and Sir Mix Alot. I wanted to get back to that and it didn't happen. Now as we have a press event over the death of Michel Jackson I have an in.

The education of Soto continues. Fedelity to the law is her philosopy. She will remember that as she serves because she wants to creat political space for O to send her sisters and brothers on the court. Polotics in the court room will continue. She is getting a listen to the fault lines. She wants to move the lines but knows not to say that in public. She not only whacthes the polls but knows that her actions on the court and as an educator / speeker will move polls. If she preforms in ways that make GOP critics look like paranoid chumps she can raise O's stock. If she writes oppinions that confirm GOP concerns she can cost Dems votes. The perpetual campain will continue once she is confirmed so the posing will continue as well. Well i assume that she is sell counsiously ajusting her positions to please selected audauances.

In boats you can reduce your drag in the watter by moving faster causing the boat to skip over the watter. O polls show that he isn't skipping over the political watter like he used to.

Congress is working through vapor bills wile it looks for the right gimic. How many swing distric Dems are going to walk the plank to make O look competant? His groupy number is still ok but his aproval numbers on healthcare in those districts w/ freshman Dems arn't going to make him helpful. People are planning their next election and that means making predictions on the political climate they will running in. O people are giving out their own spin\predictions to congresional staffers.

What do you tell the folk who have been working for years to get a Dem in their district and they get it and then find out that the party had larger goals than holding your district. It's a lot easyer to tell the congress man that there is a nice job waiting at GE if they vote w/ O.

O says August date is because the congress can't get anything done w/o dead line. He needs a life line not a dead line. In August the congress goes home to talk to the people. This dose two bad things. First the members see how intence voters resistance is. Second they see just what the suporters of the none bill / none plan expect to get when it passes.

Also in August O is to restate his buget and deficiat predictions. The voters will not be amused or in mood for hyper spending.

Was talk of braking the bill up and passing the hard parts in buget reconcilation mode with 218 and 51 votes before passing the easy parts with a "historic" and "bypartison" majority. But by then there will be far to much blood and sausauge on the floor for that kind of fancy dance step.

But wait. The lie Peneta accuses Cheny/Hadden of is that they didn't tell congress about an option they decided not to take. "Hey, let me take your time to tell you about what we have decided we don't want to do." I don't think so. And what was so shocking? Wile every one with two IQ points to rub together knew we were preying on AQ with hellfire missles so one explored the posibility of using rifles or pointy sticks to do the same thing. The result of the exploration was the conclusion we would have logistic and extrication problems. Supluing and evacuating people from AQ stoming grounds will be hard. If we expand the program to game changing propotions the enemy will get posesion of living and dead oporators. Suiside tree snipers (Japan WWII) are not our style even if they are in moantains w/o trees. CIA didn't bother to remind congress of that.

Health slow down.

Generational theaft is strong charge. The GOP are exploting O over promising to force him to make a dicision about his whole career. Tonight O comites his reserves. We talked about front loaded primaries and this is a very front loaded presedency. When the cancled the press breifing to not draw atention to what was happening on the hill people started paying attention.

Will O use reserves to drive forward the attack or cover the retreat. Can he thread the needle will riding the rollercoster and find a move that dose both?

Is he going to be out of touch with political reality or timed? Weakness gets punished in his town.

We pay more and get less than than anyone. The real solutions will come from some place other than goverment. (Atomated record keeping could cout errors and free massive amounts of health workers time for patient care.) Forget that this is all about O now.

O bet huge on nation Health and it's very much in play. Even if he wins confedence is eroded by the chancy nature of the contest.

No one wants any bill that is still posible. The one hope is that the leftys can force something in with vote trading and arm braking. Then they will come back with law suites to change the bill to what they want. Policy is writon at the appelit court level.

That is why they need good empathic judges.

Empathic = disregard for old negetive rights that protect us from goverment. Good = conected team players with a sence of the direction of history.

It's all about me and now that he talked about me on TV I like him. He did talk about me. I know he did. I'm the Republican disinformation O warned you about. Some people will say that that line was a swipe at Dick Morris link saying that O is using national health too incentivise ilegals to enter the country and vote illigaly for Dems. And a book full of other insights like that. But I know it's all about me.

Now if O and misses Edwards don't like what the call Republican lies they should just keep up the adhominam attacks. Every thing any Republican says about plan is a lie is just the kind of polarisation that will sell Dicks books.

If they were to have the curage of their convictions and present their own ideas in a clear and timely way Dick would be out of luck. We might even get a good bill.

If as Edwards wife says any time a Republican mentions Cannada, France or Briton they are lieing then what dose she think og Jacob Weisberg? link Weisberg, no GOP pawn, talks about comparative healthcare and it dosn't feel like he's fibbing.

He will increase demand for health services by covering more (it used to be all) people and lower cost. He must have an army of Cuban doctors in his pocket who want to work real cheap. I forgot we are beyond the limeted ecconomics of supply and demand. The magic astrics called "waist fraud and abuse" will pay for it. Worked so well for Reagan. Profit is the problem. The truble is that when people work for profit there is some chance you can predict what they are doing. When they stop working for profit they are working for something else like a political agenda. Political agendas are a lot more expencive tha profits. Just look at what Franks did to hte banking industry.

What if O passed up the political points he scored by accusing the GOP of only caring about the political points they scored on him? ??? What if he presumed good faith on the part of the Republicans? Then he would need to come up with better ideas. He is committeed to two things, winning and not committing to any concreat idea. If no one knows what your for you can claim victory no matter what bill finaly passes. We will get a bill that disapoints. O will celebrate a historic victory over the absence of historic victory. We will re-write this bill every two years like the farm bills. Deal after deal after deal with no real underlieing stable law.

If he wants to help the letter wrighters he should behave differently. (Why dosn't he mention my letters on TV. Because they don't dovetail with his preconcived agenda.) Republican problems with the bill can be taken off the table by O if he just adresses them. Write a illegal emigrant page into the bill that clearly disclosed what the bill will do in terms of iligal imagrants. Then one complaint is off the table and we can move on. Say clearly in the language of the bill that it will pay for no abortion servises. Then another complaint is off the table. Before long we start to get a bill that will pass. But that would require that O prioretise his public agenda- up covarage, maintain best parts curant system, lower future cost curve- over his private agenda, look like the hero who did the great feat, make GOP look petty in face of his nobility, push lots of moeny around to people who will owe him favors for the moeny, prepair for midterm elections.

A bill should have court prof language that give clear instrution for the day to day oporation of a system. It should not include protracted discources on vauge and controdictory asporations. The laungage solves real problems in the system is the same language that draws emotional oposition. Members love lanugage that dosn't say much in particualre because it dosn't cause many problems in particular at election time. Don't write anything that could make sence if quoted in a campain ad. This politicly safe language is oporationaly dangerious. It promotes one off deals and invites court action. Trial lawyers give members moeny to ease their minds about little stuff like that. Members right rules that make a happy hunting ground for trial laywers.

Real solutions are going to need medical resurch desighned and payed for by goverment that creat cheaper ways to get results. Know how much moeny smart bombs save the Air Force? We need a smart bomb grade improvement in health delivery. I want a DARPA for health care. The imporatanint things are simple and the simple things are hard. Lets invent penicilan again. That worked for a wile. If I apoint a sientis to invent cheap health care then I can declair victory before the first resurch begins. Politics is easy.

The one cost cutting idea that is interesting is the promise that a commission will come up with cost cutting ideas in the future and congress will vote recomendations up or down like base closing commision recomendations. The base closing formula is what you use after a very bad bill (Lyndon Jonsons war bugets) has compleatly matastisized. The fact that O is counting on a base closing comision fixing the hard parts of this bill each year from now on pains a very poor picture of his ability to pass any thing other than parade float. You know paraide floats, they pass by and make every body happy but arn't good for any real work at all. "Doctor Feel Good"

Very distracted to day. What is this thread about?

One of the problems of peace is it make you adopt habits that work in peace but leave you open to a sucker punch. Then consiter that the sucker puncher can put down the gun and play info warfare. An ambush with out a crime can give the greates victory. Urban warefare with out the warfare. The tail can wag the dog and all it needs is a provokable person who can be assoseated with the target. But a little voice tells me that the dog (yellow dog/yellow press) is quite happy about the wagging it's getting.

What was I talking about?
