At least they haven't called her a dike yet.
Sarah "Connor" Palin dosn't have a drop out bone in her body.
link
The sujestion that she would is sexist. Yes I went there. There are to reasons a pricipaled feminist suports opening leadership roles to women. 1. The human right to liberty, some times called equal protection the timid. 2. Maximise the talent pool.
The argument that women should be in power because they are more libral than the men they replace and will move the country left is the worst kind of stereotype. It harms the cause of liberty and reduces our ability to solve practical problems. It also provides one of the strongest barriors to getting women elected because it excludes the magority of women who are not libral from the prosess and lables the remaining ones as out of step with their country.
Susan Estrich, speaking on Fox News, made the point.
"I've never seen anything this bad in my life and I was with Geraldine Ferraro in 84 and this is worce. .....[side comment to Laura Ingrams]...... She [Palin] and I are very far apart [on the issues] but I have never seen from some of my friends such vicious and mean spirted attacks on her most personal choices which is what they are. We ask that our choices be respected, her choices should be respected. And this question of wheather she should as a mother of five be running for VP, I don't recall anyone saying Arnald Schwarzenegger shouldn't run for Gov. of California because he's got four kids. I think this is just really unfair, really sexist and very likly to provoke a backlash."
With those words Estrich demenstrated her self as a feminist rather than a political hack who pimps out feminist imagery and feeling to serve a political machine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like Gov. Ridge. Palin is great but she could get better is she were re-elected as Gov. (Don't smoke your plant untill it's three feet high.) The national party should harvest Palin latter, maybe. The demands of the moment take control.
I wonder if some of the barrons in the Alaskin GOP wanted the Barracuda Palin out fast. From the PTA she rose fast to take out a party chairman, aturny general and sitting Govenor. What was she goiong to do when she got her footing. She was already burring political careers and might start digging up the wrong bodys. In my imagination they wanted her in the belt way, gulf cost or the sand box. Any where she had Democrates to take apart. Any where but in Alaska.

I don't mean to suggest or imply any sexism with the prediction. I put the prediction up simply due to the fact that this prediction was put up on intrade and some of the other "for pay" prediction sites. I fervently hope that Governor Palin plants one of her snow shoes up both Senator Obama's and Senator Biden's rear ends. Since she knows how to field dress a moose, maybe she can teach the people in the Democratic party how to field dress an ass.

I ascribe not personal judgment against you. You and I were both talking about the same events. You just raised the subject and I let fly. Asking that we think about what people say about her in no way indecates that you agree with what is said.

Sorry double posts.
Biden looked glum when he and O came out to "welcome" her into the race. Dem past up other oportunitys and spent many resources to out manover the GOP. Palin represents a counter march by the Mc which checked the Dem manover.
They beat the GOP over the head and sholders with idenety politics ever day for decades. Then the Mc comes back with a little counterspin it nutralizes much of the Dems advantage. This is no longer a transformative election. It is the same old dog fight over one or two mid west states. Palin holds the south, moatains, plains by giving women permision to vote their minds.
Dean wanted like hell to take God, guns, guts, faimly and life of the table. She says hellow and it's all right back in Deans face.

You can put plausible deniability on a slur but it's still a slur. Mr. diplomacy meant to say that Mc economics are so piggish that putting some lipstick/Palin on the ticket should not move the polls. Those bitter, clinging, churchy, towny Americans still don't know whats good for them. "I am not a Trojan horse."
O needed, in true Bill Clinton style, to say something that changed the game. I bet the plan was to borrow an old line and bait team Mc into attacking it. Then O can come back with his message, the Republicans only have distraction and "fonny outrage." Just because O managed to form a tactical turn around plan doesn't mean it's any good. Fonny out rage works really well for the GOP because the Dems have worn it out! That little part of every independent voter loves to see Dems get some of their own back. O said that Mc was going to scare people because O didn't look [white] and had a funny name. Now O is all about substance and policy. O calls people names wile veiling it in defensiveness. I just hit them back first. Dose he feel insencure?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This race is going way out side skill set. He wins by invalidating everybody else's ballot petitions or having both the Dem primary favorite and the GOP wonder boy wiped out by sex scandals
at the same time.
(I wonder who got a dream job for arranging that?) O was set for one kind of campaign and Mc changed it. Palin was the hero of the battle but not it's architect.
O response to the reversal has been less than artful. O is a flopper. A soccer player who falls on his own back to frame the oponet player for a foul. It's not an all together bad a trick if you do it once or twice at the right times. It can't carry a whole campaign. Saying Mc is losing because he hasn't got an idea of his own is workable. Saying Mc is winning because he plays to hard smells like O-possum road kill. O says the GOP is working the refs. Translation, "I can't work the refs the way I need too because the GOP work the refs better than I do." The most important thing O can do for himself is stop explaining why he is loosing. That kills him. Dose he feel insecure?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bills taking O to the wood shed. People are asking questions about the volunteer, money, intensity and organizational advantages of team O. They all look smaller than planed. Press tilt towards O may be less stable than hoped. O may still give us a new economies but he can no longer make us think we all wanted it. The post-nasty candidate went nasty when he triped. Dose he feel insencure? He is still going to win but not because he united the people behind a new vision of American identity. Only because he refused public financing and because he refused weekly debates. Dose he feel insecure? That is a very different kind of win. What was a whole new future of post-political politics V. Bushes third term changed to McCain V. John Kerrys assistant. Many of O's supporters didn't sign on for this kind of trip.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the Dems need a new route of attack. Mc is cluttering up the center of their chess board with his pieces and limiting O's options. Dem's working hard to paint Palin as Pat Buchanan with out the adams apple need a clue. If they keep mishandling her they might turn her into Richard Nixon with a soul.

TV's Andy Levy responding to her comment that, Sara Palins "primary qualifications seam to be that she hasn't had an abortion."
He is wrong the dems can't fire the chair woman for fear of getting the story in another press cycal.

Liberty Leading the People
Delacroix Rockwell
Mother hood, the dignity of women and the protection of children have always been among the most powerful political images. The art of the French revolution, mothers tucking babes into bed and the questionable story about Saddam troops tossing babes out of incubators as they looted Kuwaiti hospitals have all been used to powerful political effect.
Conflict exists as to weather women gain dignity by fulfilling or escaping their historical/natural roles.
All important national politicians become symbols for concepts. Women politicians even more so become archetypes for aspirations. Hillary supporters have likened her to an avatars for Juno the fierce mother warrior god of the Romans. Palin challenges that claim wile maintaining her own Diana the Huntress grove.
They both claim to protect children but not in the same way.

As the novelty of having women in the American government wears off and they increase in numbers they will have more latitude to be people doing a job. In the current envirment they represent values more than skill sets. Palin represents a Republican vision of women hood. She hold conservative positions because of her personal evaluation reality. The woman who unseated a Governor and took his job isn't told what to believe by men. Her life style choices have not stopped her from becoming Governor and by result one of the most powerful women in America.
The Dem's best people knew better than to draw attention to the values of Palin but some of their third stringers got on TV and said the Hillary voters wouldn't vote for Palin because she wasn't for choice. Problem is that Hills voters all went for Gore and Kerry. If the Dem's are driving up intensity among liberal women by waving "hurray for our side" signs about abortion they are destroying the last remnants of the "transformative" post nasty O game plan.
Speaking of life style choices, Obama said that he would not punish his daughter with an abortion. Wait a second. What he really said was that he would not want to punish his daughter with a baby. Hillary's take on the issue is that it requires a village with an abortion clinic to raise a child. Historically the argument that abortion protects children helped get us to where we are. The idea of large poor families where the other children would be harmed by the birth of another was used to show the mercy of abortion. A young woman aborting her first fetus was preparing her self to be a better mother to future children. The term problem pregnancy was the same as "unless eater." The supreme court knew that equal protection grounds would never stand up to challenge so they protected the "useless eater" argument by hiding it in a cloud of "privacy."
One of many reasons the dem's want Abortion off the radar is that "useless eater" is starting to sound like "tar baby." Dem's strongly oppose race profiling or unequal out comes in the death penalty. They are now being accused of race profiling in abortion.
link
to that the legal requirements of all medical providers to be mandatory reporters of child neglect and abuse and the privacy argument has lost it's power to conceal.
New thinking is going to be formed on the subject of abortion and the Dem's don't want Palin any where near the discussion.

I do not hear leaders for office talking about the fast and amazing changes in the conduct of war. Human wars were mass duels where two armys met on an appointed field and when the sun set the heralds decided who won. Then not too long ago armys started attacking the enemy tax base-fire bombing Tokyo. Now wars have two side who use different rules. The good guys try to provide civil affairs services to the people of the country and the bad guys try to starve or blow up their own people. The campaigns should talk about this.

Inspired in part by
The Pentagons New Map
and
After Bush.
We play away games like they are home games against enemys who play "home" games like they were away games, loot, rape and blow up the marketplace. The enemy is more like Sherman burning Atlanta than Jackson defending New Orleans. Home to the enemy can be a very small place with no regard for the colors on a globe.
Involuntary martyrs AKA hostages illustrate the way failed states use their people, foreign aid bait.
Functional states reward leaders who protect retired leaders and increase the resources available to the people. None states reward leaders who kill retired leaders as well as promising/willing future leaders and restrict the resources available to the people. Some times el president for life dies sooner they he likes. To avoid that he turns the country into a trap for any one, foreign or domestic, who might do his job. "If I can't have this country now one will have it. Send money!"
So the skills a commander in chief needs have more to do with saying no to people than pronouncing their names well. I would love to see some one do to North Korea, Somalia, fill in the blank, what Palin did to Alaska. Retire a few crooked old men.

The paints suits take the knives to the skirt. Sandra Bernhard and her rape squad should get a visit from the Secret Service. Don Imus blushed. It's coming in all flavors and shapes. Peggy Noonan don't like her either.
Feminism the radical belief that females are human if they serve politically correct conventions.
Women who make it through the glass ceiling and then pull the ladder up behind them do more to continue the barrier than any man. Glass ceilings don't shatter, roads through them must be built and maintained. A few women always reign above the ceiling and there prestige is multiplied by their scarcity. Red neck gigolo souther governors have preceded their wives in office as a way to loophole term limits and generally spit on their rivals. Putting your wife in the N.Y. Sennett seat is new but just a sign that ideology replaced region as source of identity.
Queens of the Hill, Pelosi/Clinton support women leaders when those leaders are willing to serve as hand maidens to the Queens of the Hill. They employ the glass ceiling as a kind of toll both. Women who Serve the queenly agenda get assistance and praise for inspiring women in the face of an oppressive mail system. Women who resist get iced out. Dem politicians have said that because Palin hunts she must be antisemitic. Pelosi/Clinton's silence speaks volumes.
Is this Alice in Wonderland where the queen runs faster and faster to stay were she is or is it Narnia where the queen keeps it "always winter and never christmas" to keep her thrown? Either way it's a cold place. Skull freeze.

The debate is less important than the debate over the debate.
Winning often requires creating the apearance of winning. It can also require manipulating the impresions people have about why you are winning. Obama need to explain his lead as the result of Mc being an out of touch rich guy and Palin being way to bare foot and pregnant for prime time. That and the fact that Obama (O) is going to change things. In fact Obama is the luckest brother on the planet. The fist time he is running against real competition at the right time the right crises hit. The bank runs through the publics attention right where O wanted it.
How do you start a bank run? Lets say, Blue Hourse Shoe (I call him that so no one gets sued for libel) wanted to spend every dollor it would take to get a Dem in. But he dosn't want to spend too much moeny so he thinks of a way to give it to the Dems and make moeny in the proses. He creates a wisper number. A rummer wispered around about the value of a sock or in this case a bank. "If profits are below X sell." Or "if you hear questions about this banks assets don't wait for answers sell." Then you just have a few close friends and contributers short the target banks assets at the same time.
There were long standing problems in the banking system like political presure to loan moeny to people who couldn't get loans with out any thought to how those loans would be strutured or financed. They contribue to the problem but don't explain the super convenient timeming.
If Mcain/Palin hadn't pulled ahead it might not have happened untill october. October suprise.
Mcain said that the fundementals of the ecconome were strong. Rosevelt said that all we have to fear is fear it's self.
Rosevelt waited to say that untill he was elected. Wonce O is elected he too will discover that America has the worlds strongest ecconomy but will the balits are still out O will use that fear and call Mc out of touch.

Matthews during a special edition of
Hardball
Col. David Cogdall and Palin with
Engagement Skills Trainer
,
Mathews, America "could be Zimbawa in a a couple of years." He didn't need to add, "if we elect Palin." He referred to her as a winning game show contestant and one of the show he referenced was the dating game. He has also implied that the news story from now to ballot day will be
"Worst Recession since the 30's."
Now I had Grandmas story of how the banks closed the day she got her first check as a school teacher drummed in to my head every time any one mentioned tropical depression, clinical depression or topographical depression. When you have a hard time finding
dandelions
because hungry people are eating them come talk to me about the 30's.
The economies is emotional. Millions and millions of dollars for campaign ads about how bad the economies is impact psychology and that drives down the economies.
