Saudi Arabia is preaching Jihad and doing nothing about it. Terrorists simple live up to their words. Saudis hope to buy their victory by making world dependent on low interest loans and investments. Terrorists, on the other hand, are fighting with guns. I suppose they view Saudis as wimps. However, agenda is, more or less, the same.

GWOT was intended to solve the problem of terrorism at its source, i.e. to either help or force the countries where terrorists are coming from to deal with the problem. Help or force options depend on the attitudes the countries have about the problem. There is *nothing* sinister about it, in fact it is difficult to imagine more natural thing to do. Practical consequence was that violence remained at its source, rather than being exported to places like New York, London or Paris. The effect was augmented because of other unresolved issues in some of those countries, like ethnic and religious hostility. In other places, it helped local law enforcement dealing with the problems, but those rarely make their way to news headlines.

Al-Qaeda is, probably, best known global terror organization. Its goals are exactly the opposite, they want violence to happen in the West. GWOT initiative must be extremely frustrating for them.

The newest threat from China has been completely ignored by the media. With the constant refinement of nuclear clocks, the Chinese are now able to schedule a systematic program whereby the entire population is engaged from West to East in a precision timed maneuver wherein the Central Asia Chinese begin hopping up and down at the Western border and the rest of the population moving West to East follow suit. This activity is coordinated by synchro-swimming instructors and the 1.2 Billion Chinese can create a seismic wave effect that will cause a 9,1 Richter shock and subsequent Tsunami that will race East, South and North. This will cause 100+ meter waves to destroy Southern Japan, the Northern Philippines, all American Pacific Islands and the entire West coast.

Even though the destruction of the Western US will not supplant East coast news about the Kardashians, Bruce Jenner's latest mutation, nor the overwhelming importance of same sex marriage, we must all still be very afraid!

The Saudis and their support of Wahabi Madrassa religious schools are the major source of terrorism world wide. The war on terror is a war of ideas and the U.S.A. and the west are losing. This war cannot be won with guns and drone strikes. Each strike or raid creates more terrorists than it kills. The only strategy I can think of is to establish a world wide competing set of schools with the help of a Moslem allied country. ( Indonesia, Djibouti, Bangladesh?) if they would teach a competing brand of Islam other than Wahabism, and maybe a life skill like computer programming we could see where parents would send their children...The death cult or the life skills. Our "allies", the Saudis are actively working against us by funding this world wide system that teaches only hate.

Spiky    Correction   7/1/2015 12:15:12 PM
"This ideological mess is something Arab rulers, particularly in Saudi Arabia, have been dealing with since Saudi Arabia was formed in the 1920s.......... more accurately to recognize: since Islam and Sharia law with its ideology of conversion and submission by "force" was formed in the 7th century.

Docduracoat, war of ideas ? What ideas do you mean ? I fail to see anything logically consistent in all that cr*p. They keep saying they are suffering, and they do, indeed, because they keep killing each other. They say they are denied freedom of religion, and in the same time claim that everyone must become Muslim and Sharia Law applies to everyone, like it or not. All I see is paradoxes. Ideas are supposed to be logically consistent. They are also supposed to be articulated. However, their propaganda sounds more like old fashioned bullying, "do as we say, or you will die". In fact it is bullying, indeed, but packaged up so that it sounds like an idea.

All comes down to one question: how and why do they manage to recruit people ?

Spiky    Wahhabi is but a branch   7/1/2015 12:41:48 PM
Wahhabi the sole culprit??? I don't think so....... even if Saudi Arabia fell, and even if Wahhabism was totally exterminated, we would still have the same problems right now in the Middle East. Yes, that is right, the same problems, because there are many other fanatic Islamic branches which currently exist right now all originating from the original writings of the conquer driven Islamic ideology and its jihadi teachings considered holy, Sharia law and its submission teachings of conversion by "force", and the undisputed murderous ways of Muhammad's example: the original founder that most Muslims can't even come to admit he did anything wrong, disgusting, or barbaric, and is beyond criticism by sentence of death as many muslims and non-muslims find out on a daily basis.

Sometimes by the end of Cold war, there was a 'common knowledge' that Shia Islam is radical, while Sunni Islam is moderate. Today everyone knows how wrong it is. Every religion could be taught in a way which creates fanatics. Again, question is why are people allowing to be recruited by such movements ?

I was thinking, what if I was complete stranger, having no idea what is going on. If I listened to those bold statements issued by terrorists, what would I think ? Statements like 'we will get you, you will pay, if you try to interfere, you will pay even more', etc. I would have thought something like: 'Look, these guys are in total control, they have all the power, the rest is under their feet'. It is not true, of course.

However that might be why are they managing to recruit new people. They are making those recruits feel superior, powerful, special, in control. Which implies that they otherwise feel inferior, helpless and powerless.

When they talk about religion, I bet that 90% of those recruits don't understand sh*t. They have no idea what are they talking about, just keep repeating what sounds like something important.

I would say that the enemy we are fighting is best called Militant Islamic Fundamentalism.................... ......................................................................................... Wahabism would be only one branch of that murderous ideology. It influences both Isis and Al Qaeda . ( and Al Nusra and others).............................................. The Shiites have their own murderous militant fanatics. .................................................................................................................................................................... On the one hand, there is the war within Islam between a more easygoing and tolerant version, and the Militant, Islamic Fundamentalists who will kill you for not being Islamic enough ( of for being the wrong kind of Muslim)................................................................. Then there is the war between Western ideals of tolerance, religious freedom, diversity, democracy, and free speech against Militant Islamic Fundamentalism... We in the west would be natural allies of those Muslims who are more tolerant and do not want to kill everyone who is not moslem enough................................. The Moslems that I meet in my work as a doctor here in Florida seem to be the tolerant kind.........................................................................................................,. We are losing the propaganda war. I see no "radio free umaa" I see no Internet campaign showing the horrors of life in the Islamic State. I see nothing on television about disillusioned retuning jihadists telling their story . No cable show about one brother in the west doing good works and the other cutting off Moslem heads in Syria. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................... We have no marketing people, no moderate Imams, no propaganda experts, no advertising agencies, no one to tell our side of the story?.................................. All I see on the media is Bruce Jenner sex change and gay marriage................................................................................................................................................

Docduracoat, I have found some coverage on life in Raqqa, unofficial capital of IS. The crew who made it presented themselves as neutral. However you can see some scary things, like man sentenced to death for taking drugs, praising IS authorities for showing him the right way. Obviously he was afraid for his family. I found it on Youtube.

Couple of months ago Pope Francis requested Muslim Communities to react on violence, but, as you know, there is no response, neither positive, nor negative.

I suppose you mean something like human right campaign which denounced communist regimes by the end of Cold war ?
