Subject: .50 Calibare Sniper NOT! (WARNING)
    6/19/2005 1:39:31 AM

Video

We have had several readers tell us that this is not sniper video, but varmint hunting video. After we took a second look we tend to agree with the varmint hunting theory. What do you think?

I am active duty with the signal corps, ex-infantry, we film this stuff all the time downrange with the sf and rangers. That probably is a human body. I have seen a 7.62 tear a body apart, a 5.56 blow a head and shoulder too goo and a single .50 cal sniper rifle blow people into pinata' fuzz. That sniper rifle literally blows people away. It can just go through you with an exit hole, depending on location, though unlikely too. We interviewed a few snipers in Afghan and Fallujah and they love when they literally cut people in half from a mile away.

OK, all weapon's effects aside, can you explain the disturbing simularity (read identical terrain and target positioning) between the varmint hunt advertising video filmed in Arizona in 2000, and the "sniper video" supposedly filmed "recently" in Afghanistan?

Unfortunately we did film shots for 2 reasons, 1)comformation 2)because the command wanted them. And a 50cal will tear limbs of with the right rounds, we used explosive rounds for that reason, so if it wasn't a direct hit they would bleed out, and if they had commrades, it would have a mental effect on the.

This is the real deal people. This is military, most likely SEAL team, snipers doing their job. If you are not too much of a pussy to watch the video very closely, you will clearly see a very human, very shredded body flying through the air post-impact. There is no comparison with the varmint hunting videos, particularly in the range at which the shot is being taken. These shots are clearly at much greater range than any of the varmint footage. The effective combat range of the Barrett .50 cal SASR is 2000 yards, this footage claims to be at 2500 yards, I have no doubt an excellent marksman can stretch the effective range of the weapon. SEAL's, and spec ops snipers are *excellent* marksmen. The video is taken by the spotter of the sniper team for the purposes of confirmation of kill, and I believe training purposes also. You may not want to believe the footage is real, but this is war folks, and it is not pretty. The .50 caliber SASR is considered a "force multiplier" because the tremendous amount of physical damage done to the target has a huge psychological impact on his fellow combatants. An Army sniper told of being ordered to engage an enemy combatant who was armed with an RPG, and stationed in water tower. The sniper took the shot, and the top half of the target fell to the ground while his lower half remained on the water tower catwalk. How eager would you be to remain in that fight knowing that sniper was out there somewhere. This video is genuine, and the targets do not deserve any better in my opinion.

No, I'm afraid not. This is the "real", real deal... Those are rock chucks. Being shot with a Sako L579 sporting a Krieger barrel chambered in 6AI. Range is only about 250 yards and closer on all those shots. How can I be sure? Simple. I was either pressing the trigger of the rifle, or pressing the record button of the camera on every one of those shots. As previous posters have already said -- those are clips taken from one of our varmint hunting videos. Some morons have been spreading them all over the internet making up ludicrous "sniper" stories to go with the clips for about a year now. Oh, and I own a REGISTERED copyright on this material. Please consider this a specific demand from a registered copyright holder to cease infringement. In other words, get MY video off this site and stop making up ridiculous stories about where it came from. Thanks. Dave Affleck RMVH, LLC www.rmvh.com

I've been a hunter for many years, of man (u.s. army) and animals small and large. I have to agree that what ever kind of small animal is being shot in this video is no man. it apears to be a small rock chuck. I've fired the M82A1 many times along with smaller rifles like M-21 and such. 23yrs in the army, many a trip to crazey places around our little globe.

If it's too good to be true, then it is. US Snipers never film their kills. Puts them at risk.

This is a rockchuck hunt with 6mmBR.
