Libya is Egypt's side yard. The traffic between the two countries is such that just about everyone in Egypt knows or has some family member who has worked in Libya. Their is a lot of common knowledge about how/who things in Libya work. It would do the US some good to back the Egyptians in all political am military aspects of their operations, combat, civil affairs and finally the establishment of a reliable Libyan military component. Forget democratic ideals, let the Egyptians get security in place and the economy working and leave them alone.

Am I alone or doesn't it seem strange that the IS has even been allowed to survive this long?

I am sorry but I just can't see how Iran, Hezbollah, Shia Iraq, the US, Europe, the UK, Jordan, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia haven't moved to obliterate this seeming throw together movement. That makes me suspect that ISIS is too valuable to kill for many regional players. And we can easily see how the Western media thrive on video-ed murders which enrich their bottom lines.

Jordan and Egypt may attack but if they don't kill off ISIS that will make ISIS look worthy of respect and will make these two countries look unworthy of respect.

When one notes that the US aborted 55 million infants in the 1st 40 years of Roe v Wade and that outrage is barely acknowledged as such, the spasm of outrage inspired by the brutal killing of one journalist seems bizarre.

I submit that our media need to practically blackout the immolations, beheadings, etc. I submit that our medias' hunger for sensation enables ISIS' brutality.

So what is significant to me at the moment is that the civilized angry fail to act decisively. Some may be exploiting ISIS' notoriety to advance their own agendas. These are indicative of moral decay of Western civilization.

Abortion is an issue here? Why not throw in capital punishment, snuff movies and use of animals in lab experiments - all very worthy [!], I'm sure, but with little or no relevance to the situation vis a vis our charming friends, IS.

The issue in my post is the picture of our society straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel.

You are minimizing the evil of 55 million murders of innocents by bundling it with stock issues. How very callous.

IS are not charming. They are ruthless, purposeful thugs.

The relevance is that the advertised motivation of militant Islam is to destroy a godless, depraved, decadent, evil culture embedded in the West. In this, we are without excuse. Every American is collectively answerable to God for this crime. He cannot overlook it. If we want to be secure, we have to admit wrong doing and repent of the 55-57 million murders.
