My extended diatribe against European leaders' arrogance and myopia plus a scintillating excoriation of 'Mad' Putin's accelerating descent into Stalinic psychopathy and the support thereof of by a cadre of aging, drooling, Soviet zombies was mercifully erased while typing. I am left with the following, mercifully short and appallingly accurate, explanation by the great Robin Williams. To quote from this article,

"The EU has given Russia one week to pull their troops out of Ukraine, otherwise more sanctions will be applied"

To this I give William's late 80's description of English Bobbies lack of weapons in fighting crime.
"You know in England if you commit a crime, the police don't have a gun. So if you commit a crime, the police can say: "Stop! Or, or I'll say stop again!" -- Robin Williams

If the apocalypse is unleashed by Putin or any other inevitable, deluded result of human procreation and religious psychoses, I will be glad that the comic genius missed it. Small comfort...I refuse to go back to the terrifying silly, 50's response of 'drop and cover' in the event of nuclear annihilation, nor have I ever joined the PC apologists in their mindless, pseudo justification and pharisaical lamentations about the 'misunderstood' Islamic genocidal maniacs. It is time to put an end, permanently, to at least the maniacs that we can see.

?The Russian government (in the form of leader Vladimir Putin) has warned the West to not get involved in Ukraine otherwise Russia would consider using its nuclear weapons to protect Russian interest?

Use them how and against whom? Does Putin want an EU armed to the teeth with nukes? Does he want the US to bring its nuclear arsenal up to 1984 levels? Does he want a return to M.A.D. deterrence?

Either the West is too enervated to respond this way and Putin knows that or he is sowing the wind and Russia will reap the whirlwind.

What if we put nukes in Ukraine? Would Putin order a nuclear strike? Of course we won?t though.

?

Is not Russia merely being an analog of Pakistan in that Pakistan?s support of the Taliban is based on the Pakistan military?s concern for ?strategic depth?? That is could Ukraine be to Russia what Afghanistan is to Pakistan?

?

If Ukraine can?t fight for its freedom, does it deserve to be free?

?

?Even some of the major Russian businessmen are urging the government to reconsider.? Maybe Putin considers most of these business men to amount to a stone in his shoe so to speak anyway.

?

?Europeans don?t like to dwell on the fact that they tried to negotiate with the Nazis and that allowed Germany to take a lot of territory without any interference from the major powers (France and Britain).?

Maybe not but they had an excuse of sorts in that they had suffered terribly during WWI and could not blamed too much if they tried unrealistic ways to avoid war.

?

?Germany recently cancelled a signed $134 million contract to build a modern military training facility for Russia.?

I hope we aren?t playing into Putin?s hands by damaging Russia?s business sector.

?

?The EU has given Russia one week to pull their troops out of Ukraine, otherwise more sanctions will be applied.? Riotous laughter in the Kremlin - maybe. ?

?China backs Russian efforts to annex parts of Ukraine and is hostile to sanctions (which it has been under for several decades).?

Well doesn?t Russia?s adventurism keep the US the West off of China?s back as it coerces its neighbors to its southeast into compliance?

As Nazi Germany?s seig im westen put Stalin one step closer to getting what he wanted so Russia?s triumph in its west will help China.

Can someone link an article where Russia has threatened Nuclear retaliation against the west should they intervene?
Can't see anything on the subject.
Pure madness.
I may despise his totalitarian politics, but i can say i have an insight into Vladimir Putins mindset.
It goes something like this:
"I saw my enemies in Munich, and they are worms"

There are NO meaningful sanctions on the EU or the U.S. against Russia. Ukraine is SCREWED.

Try this article from an interview with one of Putin's inner circle.

Looks like Putin is (again) setting up a way out for the West where he gets what he wants and wins.
