How do today's Russians see Sergei Rachmaninoff? Do they claim him as one of their own or do they look at him as a foreigner because he emigrated when he did. What do they think of his music?

You got it wrong... Russians like to claim every Russian that achieved something anywhere in the world. They might argue if their departure is equal to betrayal, but they still like to point out that these people were Russians nonetheless. They like to remember that Sikorsky came from Russia, for example, but some say that he betrayed Russia by leaving, while others say that he was just weak or had no choice considering turmoil of the revolution. Every inventor, musician, physicist, writer they claim adds to national pride of Russians... and takes away from the other side.
