Is Russia's invasion, allegedly in defense of S. Ossetia, actually targeting the pipeline that goes to the EU? Might Russia refuse the ceasefire agreement until it gets some sort of control over the pipeline?

Controlling the only non-Russian gas pipeline from central Asia to the EU would certainly add prestige.  Maybe that is how Russia will punish Poland via the EU for allowing the US put up the missile shield.
