Stalin_1243    5/31/2004 4:33:07 PM
500,000 people in Russia say they are communists, most of them young. If Communism were to take over the fallen Russia, what soon would happen to the world?

If Communism was to make a resurgence in Russia, you would have a giant North Korea. Get ready for sunglasses that are too dark to see out of, hamburgers without buns, MiG-29s with stopwatches to help the pilot fire BVR missiles, tanks with engines that burn, and the mass public execution of anyone who owns a Game Boy, followed by a tank lurching over the piled up Game Boys in Red Square. Russian will have arrived at the true nadir of human existence, a giant Valkenvania that no one save Count Dracula will have any desire to live in. Hopefully, Russia will never go this route. In the West, the only people who believe in Communism are the denizens of American and European universities.

Scorpene, your exaggeration is neither funny nor provocative. If communists were to be elected back into power, Russia would no doubt adopt a more socialist-orientated economy but I doubt there would be any major changes. Communists were elected into power in the former Soviet republic of Moldova with little change to the country. The Communist Party would be crazy to think it could rebuild the USSR if it ever gained power again in Russia.

Just so you know, the Soviet Union did produce all of those things I listed, except for the modified hamburgers-- it took low carb idiots in the United States to think of that one. And as far as the human resources excesses go, rest assured there would be many, although perhaps not the ones I alluded to. My point was that the Russians would be driven down to nothing by such a choice, and I think you agreed with me there. I find your faith in Communists to not change things very much when they get in charge a very dicey bet. I wouldn't give them the chance. And finally, my post WAS funny and original; so get thee to Burger King and have you a low-carb bunless Whopper.
