One aspect that has not been raised is the duration of the sub patrols.  All the nations mentioned with female submariners have conventional subs.  Nuke patrols can last several months.  How long is the typical conventional sub patrol?  Women serving on carriers and other US naval vessels do get pregnant, no?  Is there anything in the psych profiles of submariners which would preclude them from succumbing to sexual entanglements or conflict arising from associated tensions?  Would the lack of privacy on submarines prevent these problems from arising?

The major difference between nuke and conventional submarine patrols is the length but the manner in which they are carried out.  Conventional submarines are forced by the limitations of their technology to spend the majority of their time either on the surface or snorkeling, which also leads them to use outside air to exchange the crew air supply frequently and limit the buildup of odors.  Nuclear submarines tend to dive as soon as they leave port and spend as little time as possible on or near the surface (where they can be tracked).
Without access to external air odors can build up to much higher levels.  Studies over the last 20-30 years indicate that the sense of smell plays a much higher role in social interaction than previously believed.  The environmental systems on nuclear submarines have evolved over the last 50 years mostly on a 'trial and error' basis, and may not deal adequately with female odors, especially when they are concentrated many fold over a month or more of deep submergence, leading to a number of 'moral' problems that would never occur on a surface vessel or conventional submarine.

That said, I think it would be worthwhile to collect data on the efficiency of a nuclear sub with an all female crew on extended patrols.  Back in WWII a Russian study of their female snipers concluded that basic sex related psychology made the average female more capable as a sniper than the average male.  Given many of the similarities between how they operate, this may well prove the case for nuclear submarines as well.

I think the author is quite right ...

In the German Navy females serve since 2001 (and more than just "a few" -  already more than a hundered) on subs and there have been no problems.  Why should there be,  its not that much differend from a ship.  On the modern subs its even easier to seperate males and females because there is more space.

D00d, I've seen German porn.  You have no barriers or inhibitions left.  What does it matter who you crew your ships with?  Besides, what your people seem to like to do wouldn't seem to incur much risk of pregnancy.

Confusion and inexperience work both ways, so Germans are not as well off as you propose.

When did I say they were well off?  That stuff is sick!  I didn't think there could be anything worse than Japanese...boy was I wrong.  I question whether they could find the right hole to cause fertilization of the ovum if they wanted to.  Which apparently they don't.  Is that what you mean about confusion?  The fact that they don't explode seems to bespeak experience, or at least acquired tolerance or resistance...

Not that in America we have morals...but we have limits! I mean there's good clean fun , there's stuff that girl in college showed you that your wife won't do (well, maybe for a fur coat ), there's Filipina bar girls , there's Silence-of-the-Lambs-type psychos , and then there's Germany! I mean WOW!
