Interesting mini-sub. Looks like it has two torpedo tubes, and probably an optical attack system. Just the thing for sneaking up on unsuspecting merchant shipping in the Straits of Hormuz.

"...well they arn't exactly a real threat are they." in the straits of hormuz they could be. the main issue is how many they have. The Norks had the largest mini submarine fleet on the planet at one stage. IIRC they had close to 60 x minis. If they're strapped for cash - goodness knows how many have been sold. You can bet that the israelis have turned on all their arrays...

From an Iranian strategy, seems to me this would be a perfect vessel for an anti-shipping role in the Gulf. Also, as with any underwater vehicle, it is like a mine laying platform.

Well, beside endurance issues, they are more practical in the Hormuz then the Kilos who can't dive there.

->"Such a cute sub- almost expect barbie to pop out of the hatch- t- " ...and I'm wondering if they remembered to remove the Disney/Universal Studios logo from the fin!

She's a lot tidier looking than th Sang-O class I have seen, I believe the latter is about 116' in lenght, this looks a lot smaller, sure it's not based on a Cosmos, Pakistan builds them and passing on the design to Iran seems reasonable. The MG110 class midget submarines. Specs are Length overall 27.28 meters Height overall 5.59" Pressure Hull Diameter 2.30" Pressure Hull Length 19.10" Displacement 102 tons (surfaced), 110 tons (sub-merged) Operation Depth In excess of 100 m Test Depth In excess of 100 m Max. speed (surfaced) 9 KTS (on diesel engine) Max. speed (submerged) 6 KTS (on batteries) Endurance Over 1000 NM on diesel engine, Over 40 NM on batteries Complement 14 (6 operators + 8 commandos) Armament Torpedo Firing Tubes, Mine Laying Hooks Here's some pics link The Sang O class, notice the narrow bow link
