BASRA ''RISING'' WAS TEHRAN''S OP
From NY Post: Iran''s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) tried to seize control of Iraq''s second-largest city using local Shiite militias as a Trojan horse.

The hoped-for victory was to be achieved as part of a massive Shiite uprising spreading from Baghdad to the south via heartland cities such as Karbala, Kut and al-Amarah. A barrage of rockets and missiles against the "Green Zone" in Baghdad and armed attacks on a dozen police stations and Iraqi army barracks in the Shiite heartland were designed to keep the Maliki government under pressure.

'Lil Tino    Our friends in the east....   4/16/2008 12:07:56 AM
I hope that all american's wake up and finally see that we have been  at war with IRAN since 2003 , and has been since. They fired the first shot, and now they sit back and laugh, because well take our sweet time responding,... at least as far as we'll hear anyways! I can't wait to hear GEN. David Patreaus' report he's putting together for congress, about how Iran is funding and supporting  these "Special Groups",   he said it's coming soon.

Gerry    General Giap   4/21/2008 9:25:13 PM
Apparently the TET offensive ended in disaster for General Giap as it did with Sadr. The news media has done its best to support Sadr and declare a stalemate in Basra. But with the public wise to the media mistakes of the past, I don't think the US or anyone is going to buy it. Sadr is in Iran sipping on an RC cola, while his supporters are being anihilated.
