The rebels should shoot down a civilian airliner at Damascus airport.
That will shut it down immediately.

I oppose the Islamic fundamentalist but I support the Kurdish rebels.  The Kurds have been the victims of several genocide attempts and I support their quest for a sovereign Kurdish state.

And piss off the entire international community, especially if there are non-Syrian Arab civilian casualties.

Better to use a sniper to take out the tires, and then a heavy machine gun to damage the engines, and shoot up the cockpit. No, or at least few, casualties, and a repairable aircraft after the fighting is over. The rebels have performed similar attacks before they had access to MANDPADS.

With a little luck people will blame the airline for being idiots to fly into a combat zone, instead of the rebels who obviously tried to avoid civilian casualties.

I disagree.
1. The rebels shoot it down.
2. They don't take credit. If asked, they say: "not us".
Dramatic and instantaneous closure.
