Can anybody give me a basic overview of Syria's military forces (# of persons in each branch of military, # of tanks, AFV's, aircraft, ships,etc) Chris

Syria's full-time military numbers around 320,000 and reserves are about 350,000 strong. Check this link for info on their military equipment (aircraft, tanks, artillery, etc.) link go to the links BELOW the United States info.

Chris, A fantastic resource if you can get a hold of it is an annual reference book called "The Military Balance" by the London-based International Institute of Strategic Studies (basically the London counterpart to CSIS--definite heavyweights). If you happen to be near a major public library (especially a university one), it's likely that they'll have a copy. --Phoenix Rising
