Subject: Crown Prince Abdullah's Visit
Phoenix Rising    4/25/2002 12:40:50 PM
I am really disappointed in what I'm hearing coming out of the coverage of the Saudi prince's visit to Bush's Texas ranch. From the sound of things, it's Abdullah making the demands, and the American administration listening. The who's who of the American administration are all there: Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell, Card.

I also wonder about all the pundits saying that the U.S.' "prestige and credibility" is on the line as much as they do. On the other hand, I think they may have a point. If the administration lets the Saudis push it around, I guess I won't consider them as prestigious anymore, either. On the other hand, the media seems to take the slant that if we DON'T let the Arabs tell us what to do, our prestige will suffer. I fail to see the logic in this.

I think the administration is dropping the ball more and more every day. I'm amazed that no one has come out in the administration and pointed out all the flaws in the Saudi peace plan, nor emphasized the Saudi terror telethon, nor the Saudi financing of suicide bombing. It should be US making the demands, or else just placing the Saudis on the list of states that sponsor terrorism and pointing out that the emperor has no clothes on.

I was watching MSNBC last night and caught some commentary about the T.V. commercials (Paid by the Saudi government) that will be airing soon, stating how Saudi Arabia is a "partner" with the U.S. on war against terrorism. Personally I am angered by this PR sham being conducted by the Saudis. They have a h*ll of a long way to go before we should consider them a "partner" when it comes to counter-terrorism.

so what's new? sponsoring terrorism doesn't mean that you get on the State department's list, and not sponsoring terrorism doesn't mean you stay off (North Korea?). the 2 biggest state sponsors of terrorism are US allies: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Why be surprised at 9-11's and murders of journalists like Pearl? plain fact is, the USA is arming terrorist sponsoring states.
