Subject: Kiwi arty question.
shawn    6/27/2004 9:54:25 PM
Hey guys, Doing a little research for my next article in HTMW. Does anybody know the current inventory and ORBAT of New Zealand's artillery arm? All I could find out is that they are using 105mm Hormel Light Guns, and that there is apparently only 1 battery active. Much obliged.

All L119 105mm guns. They had the L118 conversion kits but some wise soul cut them up for scrap.

Why should the Kiwis call them 'Hamel'? The Brits don't, they designed the gun and the RGA and RFA were both at Hamel, the RNZA wasn't. Reminds me of when the Mad Katter's father was Army Minister and decided to rename 'Kiowa' helicopters to 'Kalkadoon'.
