Subject: Direct Fire artillery

During the Second World War, heavy usage of direct fire artillery units such as the StuG, Sturmpanzers, SU and ISU series occurred, so what is today’s equivalent in the direct artillery fire role?

HESH was originally designed by Burney to smash reinforced concrete.  Tanks as targets were an afterthought.

Aluminium liners do have an enhanced behind-armour effect, but because it is so much lighter, the overpenetration of copper liners can offer better effect.
